Mac OX X Lion freeze after wake-up

Hello,

I've installed Lion for one week. Runs fine except when waking up from "sleep" mode. (NL: sluimer) I can't determine what causes this behaviour. Usually Chrome, Mail (2nd desktop) and Parallels Desktop are running.

Also I had once a freeze when the machine was unused for 15min. Activating resulted in a freeze. Button on the back used for off and on.

Please help me solving this issue.

mine froze on wake up also, but it was, i think, because i had time machine running always so it froze the sleep/wakeup also. do you have time machine? or mobileme? this site mentioned other issues causing freezes also: http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?t=1204593 i had also unchecked the security setting to ask for a password when waking and unchecked the graphics choice in the Energy Saver, not sure which help but it seemed to help even without changing the time machine setting. it was really hard to track what was causing freezes so it's hard to know since i tried so many things. but for sure, the freeze while i was on the computer, usually my browser, has stoped with turning off the automatic backups.

I have had this problem since lion was launched. Only found a temporary solution to date. When I do a hard reset and Mac boots up again I close all my programs until only the finder remains then reboot the MacBook. This seems to avoid the freezing problem for a few days but alas it always comes back again. It does not seem to be related to chrome, contacts, MobileMe, auto backup, etc. only program I think may be part of the problem is mail as it has a habit of refusing to shut down and stops the reboot process after a hard reboot.

I too have had the hang problem since upgrading to Lion. I have called Apple Support and they have walked me through various machinations to clear stuff out, including

- Run the disk utility and repair

- Clear system and user cache

- Complete reinstall of the OS

In each case, the problem has come back. My hang occurs when the macbook air wakes up from sleep after some long period of time (a few hours). If I come back after a shorter time, it does not seem to hang.

Symptoms are

- I click on my trackpad, but as soon as I click in the password textbox, I get the flaming beachball of death

- The only recovery I can do is a hard reboot of the system

- After the system comes back up, a bunch of apps get relaunched but some of them I can't get to by clicking on the tool bar. I need to right click and quit them. Typically this is Chrome and Mail

My problem is resolved. For what its worth, and in case anyone else has the exact same issue... I am running Sophos Home Anti-Virus, and time-machine. What seemed to be hapening was that when time-machine 'conslidates' its backups overnight, Sophos was scanning the files, and the resulting load was making the machine appear to halt. The resolution was to exclude the backup drive from live scanning - which is perfectly safe since all the files on there have already been scanned. Seemed to work for me, hope it helps someone else...
