The whole point of WordPress is that you don't need to do that - it is one of the Content Management Systems like Drupal and Joomla, so you do it all online.

As I said in my previous post, if you already have a host you need to look at 123Reg and see what other add ons they offer - most offer Drupal or Joomla and WordPess. You just do a one click installation of WordPress.org and a database is created and you choose a log in name and password and that is how you access the admin section of the site and you do all the updating online - one click publishing online with no need to upload at all.

If 123Reg don't offer this, then you can use the free WordPress.com instead, but you can't do as much with it. You can however upgrade to use a domain name with it, but if you want to do this, it would be better to use WordPress.org instead.

If you go to http://wordpress.org, there are lots of tutorial to get you started and it is not hard. You can get books from Amazon or http://www.macprovideo.com provide two tutorials.

Actually, the TOP choice that come up when I clicked your link:

http://www.google.com/search?q=absolute+beginners+guide+to+wordpress

is LYNDA.com, where I've been very happily studying WordPress for the past two

months. Check out the WordPress 3 Essential Training. All you need is a basic

membership and you can go through the video tutorials at your own pace. It's been

a godsend to me. I'm re-working three sites with it and the smoothness and easy

maneuverability within the platform is fabulous. Good luck. Enjoy WordPress.
