Safari 5.1 for Windows - Back Button Closes all tabs

where did you find 5.0.5? Every site I find just lets me download 5.1, which is not helpful

Right!! i had the problem with 5.1, and immediately downgraded to 5.0.5. then saw 5.1.1 was out, figured SURELY that would fix such a huge glaring problem.

but nope.

Now trying to find a place to download 5.0.5 again to go back.

So has anyone managed to find a download of 5.0.5? Or has it and can share?

I found installer it seems to be 5.0.5 (don't know exactly because I use 5.1.1 and it won't install earlier version). Where it's better to share it (without additional registration)?

Is it an exe file? If you can zip it (because many programs won't let you send/share exe files in case they contain a virus) and then post it on a file sharing platform, that would be great (maybe YouSendIt, and then you could post the link or access code here)?

Like you I build my workflow round sets of tab groups and this bug is really irritating.

The backspace button still works, I just have to remember to use it.

Bug still there with 5.1.2 on Windows. Back button closes all the tabs!

Apple can you please fix this, I even submitted a bug report on this!

Well, 5.1.2 does NOT fix this problem.

But I have found that if I open tabs individually (instead of opening a folder of tabs, which is what I usually do) i can hit back and they don't close. Guess that will have to do for now.

seriously. this is kind of a HUGE bug. I don't know how they keep missing it! the release notes said they fixed a bug where "the screen might flash white when viewing a PDF" or something like that.

All my tabs being closed, and nothing being saved, any time I simply hit 'back' is NOT ok!

Agree with you, so after 5.1.2 update I switched back to firefox, if Apple don't want to support their browser.

Problem: Clicking back button in Safari 5.1.2 loads previous page for ALL open tabs.

Solution: Uninstalled Safari 5.1.2 and installed version 5.0.5.

I was glad to find this thread but very disappointed to read there is no solution other than rolling back to an old version of Safari. I downloaded Safari 5.0.5 from here: http://www.filehorse.com/download-safari/7929/old-versions/, and it fixed my problem. For me, when clicking the back using this version, the previous page loads for the selected tab only; however, the name of other open tabs is sometimes changed incorrectly. I find this annoying, but not as troubling as having the previous page load for all open tabs when clicking the back button.

The issue seems to be that when you use "open in tabs", all the tabs that are opened have broken history. No matter where you navigate, if you click and hold "back" arrow, all you see is one entry: "set of tabs".

I used the workaround described above; open in tabs, then close safari. Reopen safari, go to history menu, then choose "reopen all windows from last session"

Right-click gives the option to go back or forward without affecting the other tabs.
