Hi Minik456,

This thread started nearly 3 years ago.

It states quite clearly that you cannot delete an Apple ID.

Any purchases you have made with one ID are linked to that ID and you will need it to update the apps purchased with it.

There is the iForgot page to enquire about your forgotten Password.

I would like the answer to this too. The response to this was not answered, much less directly. It was like a political answer, it went on and on with out ever answering the original question. Someone please answer the question directly...

"If I delete an alias on one Apple ID, do they become available for everyone else? (Myself included if I create a new Apple ID?)" ...at some or any point in time???

HI,

As my long piece said:-

Yes, No Maybe.

I have a Dial Up Account email used as my Apple ID.

This was linked to iCloud.

This gave me an @me.com ID (email) in the first instance and later an @icloud.com when Apple started giving those out.

I can uses any of these IDs but with the same password to access my account anywhere such as iTunes, the web Display of iCloud and the App Store.

(i.e. they act like Aliases)

However, when visiting the Apple ID site I can use any of the ID to access my account but I cannot delete them as they are part and parcel of the account.

(that's a NO)

There again you may have an older Apple ID such as an @mac.com name that has not been linked to iCloud.

For this you will have a recovery email that you used to set it up.

On the Apple ID page you can remove the setup/Recovery ID and use it to create another Apple ID

(A Sort of Yes)
However you cannot access the account with the Setup/Recovery ID so it does not work as an Alias in that sense.

(But in fact a No)

There were "family accounts" that you could buy during both .Mac (@mac.com) and MobileMe (@me.com) but I never bought one of these and cannot comment on them.

The number of linked Email addresses seemed to vary, if I remember correctly.

I would have expected them all to lapse when the main account was no longer paid for.

Another however.

The @mac.com accounts could have been transferred to MobileMe and emails could be linked for regular single ID accounts (giving you both @me.com and @mac.com emails that were working as one.

Some people who have always used Apple IDs would have "Converted" these to iCloud, which, in time, would have given them the third ID ending in @icloud.com

As I don't know enough about how Family account were converted to iCloud, I would say it is a Maybe.

If you mean that in an app like Messages you have added an unrelated email account to the list of Receive At and Send From IDs then you you can remove them and they can be available to your elsewhere.

(you have to remove a .plist on the Mac to achieve this).

If you think I have missed an option about Aliases and how they apply to your experience could you give me more details ?

Hi,

As the first few replies to the Original Question state there is no way to do this.

You can remove one from all your apps and not use it but at Apple the ID will still exist.
