MacBook air and projector connection.

I too am still having problems with minidisplay port to vga. Failed massivly today in a large presentation. It was working initially at the start of hte day. Came back from a break and it refused to work. It detected the projector but just displayed a blue screen. I was running powerpoint on the air via lion and not windows.

No idea how to get it to work consistently. There is a long cable run so that might be the issue....Luckily I borrowed a windows laptop, transfered my files over and it work however without my notes. Total nightmare. Is there any update to the mac driver as I could only see the windows one on the link on the previous page.

I was unable to get my MBA to work with any projectors at the University I teach at using the Apple adaptor. I took the recommendation from a previous post to try the Cirago Mini DisplayPort to VGA Active Adaptor (DPA2011). I ordered it from Amazon.com (they will ship it to Canada too) and tried it this week and the MBA now works with all of the projectors it previously did not work with. So this is a potenital solution.

What would I use if I have Windows 2011 installed on my new MacBook Air? The downloads only go up to XP.

Anyone still have the driver version back in 2011. I accidentally upgraded to the latest version available on Intel website and now the VGA port doesn't work anymore in Windows 7. This *****! Aren't the driver suppose to improve ... not remove the support altogether ....

2. Install Intel graphics driver dated 01/21/2012

Thanks to bbbear2002. I also solved this but I have Win7 64-bit.

I simply downloaded the 64-bit driver of the above here:

I didn't uninstall the original. When prompted to replace the newer driver I had currently installed I click Yes. I rebooted after the install but I noticed that my projector did show the desktop for a brief second prior to the system rebooting so I guess I may not have had to reboot to even see the affect.

New to support forum here after running into similar problems lke you guys.

I'm using MBPro 13", and have bought the Mini Display port to VGA adapter. The cable works perfectly when via OS Lion. But when i switch over to bootcamp windows7, just cannot detect the projector anymore. Fyi, I'm on windows 7 32 bit.

Am currently trying to download the intel update which you are circulating.

Can I ask anyone for a step by step guide on how to see if my projector works? Is it just Fn+F7 or Command+P or what? Been spending half the day guessing around...

I used to have this problem (like thousands of others). Getting the right driver solved the issue for me. I have a MacBook Air (2011) with HD Graphics 3000. I travel to a number of clients - each with their own projector make and type and so far so good... I have managed to connect with all of them using Bootcamp and Windows 7.

According to the Intel Control Panel my graphics driver ID is 8.15.10.2622. Hope this helps.

i had the same issue with a MacBook Pro running with BootCamp and Windows 7 x64. I could attach VGA displays, but no VGA projectors using the mini-displayport VGA adapter (thunderbolt).

I downloaded the driver you suggested and i works perfectly fine now.

This is not a issue, in Keynote>Preferences, on the third tab you have select "run presentation in secondary display" or something like this. I have Keynote in Spanish, sorry.

Hello everyone.

Yet another person frustrated by the inconsistency of by Mac Air 13inch 2011 to connect to projectors, using a Thunderbolt to VGA adaptor. I thought I had found a projector that would work, and it does sometimes - but other times not.

I would love to try the driver update solution that seems to have helped so many others - however, I am not using Windows on my computer at all, only Mac OS x (10.7.5)

I have downloaded the driver package mentioned here, but can't see any way to install it - clicking in the .exe file just tells me there is no program to open it (despite it being labled as self-extracting).

Is this because I do not have Windows? Is there any way to install the driver directly in Mac OSX?

How do you install drivers to Macs other than using the Software update?

I hope someone can help me, as the problem is driving me batty, and making using Open Office Presentations for teaching very difficult.
