Ok, Facetime is a pain in the rear...

Here's something more you could try (not guaranteed BTW)...

If you have any other program or app communication or notifications (chat, video, etc.) on your computer such as;

1- Growl

2- Skype

3- others

Shut it down in every active account that is running a copy of such app.

In my case, it is Skype. Once Skype is out of the picture in the 3 accounts that plague my computer at home I consistently was able to get Facetime up and running again. Of course, the joy doesn't stick forever once my daughter or my wife runs Skype in their accounts once more. But, anyways, I would like to see if anyone else can confirm this workaround in their computers.

This looks like a great solution. Also tried the time setting. No success.

I am here after multiple attempts to access FaceTime failed with:

"Could not sign in. Please check your network connection and try again."

I have a case number from the apple phone tech and appt to visit the apple store regarding this issue.

The thing is, this is not an install of Lion... it's a NEW MacBook Pro, so it's featured on the dock.

I didn't know what it was until this week while visiting my sister who uses it on her iPad. We downloaded the application onto my old MacBook from iTunes... NO PROBLEM... but once I tried it on the new Mac it won't sign on, so this really baffles me.

When I bought the Mac, I replaced Airport with a Netgear router. Not sure if that is the issue. The connection to the internet is fine.

I'm also following another discussion:

Can't connect FaceTime with iPad 2.

There one solution what helped many people was to set DNS to 8.8.8.8

I've tried the 8s on my iMac and on my new iPad2. But failed to connect on both.

I've be trying now to connect to FT since 14 months.....and tried every suggestion in any forum :-(

And no help or solution from Apple!!!

THIS IS REALLY FRUSTRATION APPLE GUYS. SEEMS YOU DON'T HAVE ANY SENCE OF HONOR ANYMORE.

What the **** does that mean? Weird...what does "honor" have to do with bad code and the inablity to fix it? Do you not think people at Apple use FaceTime...I'm sure they know of the issue by now and have not determined the concern...just weird...

I changed the date/time and location as you suggested and now Facetime works in my MacBook Pro, so thank you!

I now have another question, so I don't know if you can help me as well.

I am trying to do Facetime between my iPad2 and my MacBook Pro but my iPad2 is saying that the Mac is busy; can you please help me?

Thank you,
