Apple Mail Cut & Paste Problem...

I have a problem with Apple Mail when I cut some text and paste it somewhere else within the message it doesn't go in where the cursor is located! Instead it pastes into what appears to be a random place elsewhere in the message usually at the start of the line or paragraph.

It's really strange and completely unfathomable. The only solution I've found is to put in a couple of returns paste it in to the message then move the cursor up and delete the newly added line breaks.

I thought it might be a font issue so I changed my default font from Arial to Trebuchet and it's still doing it. This doesn't appear to happen in any other application.

This is not exclusive to Snow Leopard as it does it on my Mac at home which is running Lion.

Any advice gratefully received.

YES! PLEASE FIX! This is a most annoying problem that happens to me every single day! (sorry about all caps - this one really pushes my buttons)

So 4 years after the first posting on this productivity issue with Mac Mail which has clearly been reported repeatedly to Apple, Apple has done ….absolutely nothing. Determined to replicate the Microsoft experience of dumbed down apps, utterly frustrating user experience and a couldn't give a toss attitude towards customer feedback - Apple is racing to the bottom. As I have replaced Notes with an App that actually syncs reliably, and iPhoto with an app that isn't continually dumbed down I will replace MacMail with the best alternative.

How hard is it to sort a cut and paste glitch out in an email app? Exactly.

Hummm…..Seems I've part cracked this. Go to Edit / Attachments / and de-select 'Always Insert Attachments at end of message'. Signatures till play up a little but its a big improvement.

Still consider Apple to be getting it seriously wrong in some key areas.

I too have a bug with my Mac mail. Slightly different to yours but as annoying just the same.

My work around is the same as yours, pre write the email in TextEdit, then copy paste into an email. Very tedious, but its my only solution for now.
