Wifi issue - Sleep/resume when Time Machine is active results in lost connection

I am having the same problem.

The only short term fix I have found is to Force Quit Finder (press Alt + Cmd + Esc, or go to menu bar Apple Logo -> Force Quit then select Finder and click Force Quit). Finder then quickly restarts and I am able to reconnect to my WiFi.

I was hoping the latest update, OS X 10.7.1, would have resolved this but unfortuately it has not. I hope Apple can resolve this issue quickly.

p.s. I can't confirm that this problem only occurs when my mac goes to sleep during a Time Machine back up, simply becuase I have not checked for this. I will try and check and report back.

Correction to last: After selecting Finder click relaunch (it is the only option).

I'm having exactly the same problem. I have to wait until the Time Capsule backup times out before I can shut off WiFi, turn it back on, and connect. Takes a couple of minutes, which is annoying, to say the least!

I've been having the exact same issue too, and have mentioned it earlier in these Discussion groups.

Yesterday Apple engineering sent me an email asking if I would be willing to participate in an effort they have to fix this problem. I agreed, so they sent me a program which performs an analysis of my iMac and then I returned to Apple the data it gathered. So, it's clear they are working on the problem.

I've always hoped Apple engineering would monitor these discussion groups to be aware of trouble spots. Good to know that they actually do!

That's good to hear. Although, I'm hoping you verified that it was actually Apple you were communicating with... sounds like a good social-engineering-malware trick otherwise.

Same here - it is very annoying.

Issue only occurs if laptop is put to sleep when Time Machine backup is running. On resume, it fails to reconnect to wifi until the backup times out (approx 1-2 minutes). At that point, it reconnects automatically (i.e. no need to restart Finder). This is on a late 2007 13" Macbook and is reproducible.

Unfortunately this wasn't fixed in 10.7.1. This is a major deal-breaker for upgrading my other machines to Lion - other family members expect the machine to "just work" when it is resumed and don't understand why "the internet's not working"...

Also having the problem as described on this thread. Over and over. Today was worse though, as I woke the laptop and tried to stop the time capsule backup, and reselect my Wifi network, my macbook crashed (kernal panic).

I'm having the exact same issue here, with a 2011 15" MBP and a 2009 13" MBP, both on 10.7.1.

This issue has been plaguing my wife and my laptops since we upgraded to Lion. Very annoying!

Got a new MBA with lion pre-installed and have the very same problem. Hoping that 10.7.2 will fix it once it is released. Any words from developers with the 10.7.2 pre-release if the problem is still there?

I'm have the same problem. It's good to hear I'm not the only one and it's fixed soon.

I hate to disappoint you, but the problem is still there... I'm running the latest dev build 11C48.

Also, when the backup runs again after it failed because of no wifi, I get the parsebundle error. So i have i have to go in a disconnect all users before it starts backing up again. Is there any way around that for now or do i still have to disconnect all users from the drives?
