Sooo... I've gotten a couple of replies from Apple since I started the thread.
Here's the last one:
...have you attempted the troubleshooting steps I've sent? I do see the thread that you've opened. I also see threads that were opened previous to yours that has troubleshooting steps. Customers in those previous threads have reported that the issue has been fixed by attempting a few simple steps. Below I've posted the link to the "fix" sent in by a customer. I also advised to Uninstall/reinstall iTunes and all of its components.

In most of the forums, they state that uninstalling/reinstalling iTunes is not correcting the issue. In the post that has a "fix" for the issue, it also wants you to uninstall quicktime, Apple software update, Apple mobile device support, and Apple application support. This is to be done before reinstalling the new version of iTunes. Please be sure to follow the instructions in the above link exactly to see about correcting this issue.
Seeing as this looks like a significant amount of time and effort, and I don't want to risk messing up my iTunes library, I have decided to sit on my hands and hope to see a puff of white smoke from Cupertino if and when they find a definite solution.
After all, why should I bust my hump to make it easier for Apple to sell me apps? I can just surf the web, read the app sites, click on the "view in iTunes" button. The individual app pages open fine (so far).
And if the app links stop working, well, I'm not losing any money...
PS. Anyone else notice the latest build of iTunes crashes about twice a week? Maybe I'll start sending Spotify the 10 bucks a month and manage my iPod with their program.
