My Macbook freezes after using it for awhile

I startup my MacBook (aluminum 2008 verions) running lion 10.7.1 and after about 5 minutes of using it, my computer displays the rainbow cursor and freezes. I am unable to click on anything or force quit.

My processor is 2.4 Ghz and has 2Gb ram.

It would be great if someone could give me any thoughts ASAP as I have an assignment due next week and need my computer.

The output of those shell commands doesn't show what's causing the problem. It only shows what could be causing the problem. The only way to find out is to test.

Well I uninstalled both programs in safe mode, and now my computer's running just fine and faster than it has the las couple months. Both programs are easily replaceable.

Then I went into disk utility, and the S.M.A.R.T. thing has informed me that my hard drive is "failing"... So looks like I'm gonna have to go get an external, back up, and take the comp in to get a new hard drive. AppleCare should cover that right?
