Hi, what error message are you getting?

Sorry. Pasted the screen shot but it didn't take.
error is:
Line 567
char 3
activex component can't create object: 'iTunes.Application'
800a01ad
That worked. It's running through the files now and removing the dupes. Excellent.
alright thank you for your help, its running now. i guess the shift file display exact wasnt working right.
k so the script finished and deleted about 600 songs..... my library is 20 k songs and half are doubles so it should be deleteing around 10 k songs how come it only did 600 ish
If possible the script will generate a progress bar as it runs but even if it can't there are prompts at the end of each phase of the operation and a final summary when the task is completed.

i had the same thought about turning off the service temporarily. I'll give it a shot.

Anyone have any ideas?
Yes.
Wow, your work and responsiveness is amazing. Thanks!
I'm running into a problem using DeDuper that you'll probably undestand in a few seconds, but I now have a flat spot on the front of my head from beating it against the wall:
---------------------------
Windows Script Host
---------------------------
Script: C:\Users\Gerry\Desktop\DeDuper.vbs
Line: 421
Char: 3
Error: This key is already associated with an element of this collection
Code: 800A01C9
Source: Microsoft VBScript runtime error
---------------------------
OK
---------------------------
Any help would be greatly appreciated. 🙂
You are spot on! It is a regular playlist. And your answer gave me a route to fix it:
I made a Smart Playlist that contained all the contents of the regular playlist. But as you pointed out the smart playlist will not allow duplicates. Then I copied the new smart playlist to a new regular playlist that contained only one copy of the music. Deleted the old regular playlist, deleted the new Smart Playlist, renamed the new playlist to the old playlists name and voila! Same list, no duplicates.
I really appreciated your effort and insight!
Cheers!

Yes, and the recycle bin works just fine so nothing lost. This is basically what allmost all my track locations look like. This is on Windows, of course.
D:\Users\Name\Music\Album\Track_Name.mp3
I actually do use the Shift key option. Once I learned that trick, I've always done it they way.
If I can help in any way, let know, i.e. export list of duplicates, etc.
Bingo! 😀
