iCloud -- iCal & Outlook?

Regarding iCloud, on the apple website it says:

iCloud works great with popular applications including Mail and iCal on a Mac and Microsoft Outlook on a PC.

Does this mean that with iCloud I will be able to sync my calendar on iCal on my iPad with my calendar in Outlook on my desktop?

Went into iPhone view of Calendars

This is on the iPhone in the Calendar app?

If you are showing calendars "From my Mac", you are syncing the same calendars via iTunes and via iCloud, hence duplicate appointments. Since you are syncing via iCloud, you don't want to sync via iTunes.

Select the iPhone in iTunes.

Click the Info tab and scroll down to Sync iCal calendars and uncheck it then sync the iPhone.

This also happened to me. 3.5 hours on the phone with Apple and I have my data back, my dups are gone, but my Outlook color-coding of each calendar item is still gone (hours of work), and it still trumps the default 15 minute reminder for each item. You CAN resent reminders for items manually, but it doesn't support your default reminder settings in Outlook. Call support, ask for Carlos, in the highler level of support. He knows how to fix this.

I rund Windows 7 Ultimate and Office 2010 on my PC. Yesterday I changed from MobileMe to Icloud because Apple promised on its Website that Outlook 2010 is fully supported. Finally I experienced some very bad surprises:

1. Icloud synch. with Outlook 2010 works for calender, contact and task contents ok. I was surprised to notice that Icloud transferred all data to a new file called Icloud.....

2. After synch with Icloud all Outlook category data is surpressed in Outlook for calender, contact and task entries. I lost valuable grouping information which was a great help to me to find my way around the voluminous entries into Outlook.

3. Icloud synch. with Outlook 2010 produced duplicate entires in tasks. Deleting duplicate entries in Outlook resulted in deleting all task entries on my IPhone.

4. There exist very little parameters for Icloud synch.

5. After a one hour unsecussful call with Apple support I decided to deregister from Icloud. With surprise I noted that there is no way back to MobileMe which correctly synched. all my Outlook data in the past.

I am disappointed from Apple. The Icloud concept needs a great update!! As a user of Win7 and Office 2010 I recommend not to change to Icloud unless Apple updates the synch. process.

Outlook categories are non-standard in calendar apps and usually not supported by other apps except in Outlook.

Likely you have selected to sync the same calendars via iCould and iTunes.

If you are syncing using iCloud, select the iPad in iTunes.

Click the Info tab, scroll down to Calendars and uncheck Sync calendars (because they are already sync'd via iCloud).
