Does ANY printer work with OSX Lion??

I have a brand new iMac and NONE of my 3 printers will work with it. Yes, I have installed the updates for the drivers. I have communicated with the tech support people for each printer (Canon, HP, and Epson) and none of them can help me. I have tried to use them wirelessly and wired, to no avail. I have installed, uninstalled, and reinstalled. I have tried every suggested idea on the printer websites.

I'm just wondering if there is a printer that actually does work with Lion? I love Lion; wouldn't trade it. But I have to be able to print for my business.

Please help!

Thanks in advance,

Summer

I have upgraded to Lion and now my HP410A printer won't print emails from either AOL or me.com. Apple has opened a trouble ticket but has no fix. They say it is the email service that is not up to date with Lion. I heard that if you install Adobe, you can print. I enter: File -> print and my only options are to open the email in PDF which only prints as much as on the current screen. I can no longer enter: File->Print and open in Preview.

Does anyone have a fix that even Apple can't figure out????

Hey everyone, I just bought my new Macbook Pro on boxing day and i've gone and bought a printer aswell to use. However, when i insert the disc to install the printer, i click on the installer and it says "The installer software on this CD is compatible with Mac OS X 10.5 and 10.6 only" and im currently running lion.

is there anything i can do to fix this? any help would be appreciated, thanks.

I'd be tempted to try to return the printer saying that its not compatible with your OS. You are likely to have more success with this if the retailer stated that it was. If you are unable to return it, I suggest ditching the printer installation disc, and selecting a similar model in the print options box.

From a document, hit File, Print, Printer, Add printer, until you find one that gives satisfactory results. I found that selecting an HP1022 driver for my HP1018 printer gave perfect results. Neither HP nor Apple support the 1018 in Lion.

Possible Fix for WiFi printer connection issues in Lion.

After spending all morning remotely diagnosing this problem for a user who recently upgraded to Lion, I finally stumbled across the solution. Of course, YMMV, but I hope it fixes your problem too.

The issue may well be down to overly restrictive firewall settings. Once I had loosened these to allow signed software, the Canon WiFi printing drivers/software started behaving properly. Of course you have to accept these incoming connections the first time for each ('do you wish to allow <canon software> to accept incoming connections?' Deny/Allow), but after this, it should work as expected.

Good luck,

Jason

***DON'T BUY ANOTHER PRINTER BEFORE YOU READ THIS ***

For Wireless Printer Connections only...

I too just got a new Macbook Pro for Valentine's Day from my awesome boyfriend. But Lion OS wasn't compatible with the Dell 3130 cn laser printer drivers available online. So I called Apple and they said that there wasn't compatible software available and to go buy a printer from their store that is designed for this operating system. I refused to give up so I called Dell and they offered the same advice but reluctantly transferred me to their printing department. The guy Paul in the printing department was amazing and figured it out in less than 3 minutes! So here are the steps to try before you go out and buy a new printer!

1) Go to the apple icon in the top left corner and choose System Preferences ( option is also available in the bottom toolbar).

2) Then choose the Print & Scan icon.

3) Next click on the ➕ sign in the lower left area of the "Printers" box. And see if you see your device there.

If your device is wireless and you are in range you should be able to see it.

4) Click on the correct device. And you should see a prompt asking if you want to use "generic" software. Continue and use the "generic" software and your printer should be connected.

Very easy and simple. I hope this works for you too! 🙂

Hi

I'm having same problem with my Develop ineo+220 All in One. Only recent to Mac's. It found my printer first time, added it. All was OK and going well, I thought it was ace. All of a sudden it won't print. Doesn't come up with any errors. So I deleted the printer. Now, it won't even see it again for me to add it. Its very frustating.

Any ideas anyone? Like I mentioned previously, I'm new to Mac's.

Would the Support Line help me? I did take out the Apple Care Support if that helps?

Thanks again

Hi Andrew,

First off, please do not post your e-mail address to Apple Support Communities in the open, as these forums are public, and bots can scan them for spam. A moderator was requested to have it removed. No one here works for Apple, so no one can say for certain if AppleCare will be able to help. Secondly, by posting at the end of a thread, instead of at the forum level, only the people in the thread itself will see your post, if they are still following it. The last post in this thread before yours was a month ago. Whenever you find a thread that old about your topic, it is better to start fresh. If posting regarding 10.7 related printer compatibility, start a new topic here:

https://discussions.apple.com/community/mac_os/mac_os_x_v10.7_lion?view=discussi ons

Lastly, yours is not a very well known printer vendor, and it isn't even listed on Apple's own support pages. You can try some of the open source printer driver listings on my FAQ* or find out if the printer vendor in question uses a common engine for a printer already listed in either page.

Good luck!
