why i can't perform software update for my MBP

Me too facing same problem....

And even itunes and mac app store is not connecting, and giving unknown error.😟

I also think this problem is on the Apple's end. My itunes and app store connects fine though.

OK folks so now we all know it seems to be Global.

If Apple have deliberately taken down the update servers etc (possibly for release of IOS 5 ??? or their new Cloud service??) Couldnt they have at least published it somewhere? To save half the flippin world sat wondering if there's something wrong with their network/internet etc etc. Arrogance on Apple's behalf?? is it me or do they get more like microshaft everday??

Permission repair showed this: Warning: SUID file “System/Library/CoreServices/RemoteManagement/ARDAgent.app/Contents/MacOS/ARDAg ent” has been modified and will not be repaired.

Does this have anything to with it ?

same problem hier in The Netherlands,

the file “index-lion-snowleopard-leopard.merged-1.sucatalog” couldn’t be found on the server “swscan.apple.com”. 😟

Have the same problem 10.7.1 and it cannot do a software update check although the internet connection is okay

Yes, correct. I have used a same version with you 10.7.1 and tried all the internet connection but still pop-up a same result FAIL to update.
