I have the NEX-5ks. You can either copy the files from the SD card onto your computer and convert the MTS files to MOV using ClipWrap ($50) program, or you can use FCP X to import them. I take the SD card out of the camera and put it in my iMac SD card reader while I am in FCP X. The Import from Camera window comes up. I select the camera if not already selected (I believe it comes up as NONAME). Then select the clips and import them into an event. Now worries. Great camera ... great footage. Best wishes.

thanks for answer Stephen:)
I got a High Speed SD card wich I can´t put into the Mac card reader:(
I tried to import the files in Final cut pro x by USB cable but i can´t import them.
i can´t click on the .mts files in final cut pro x import:(
anyone??
Dennis,
It works fine over the usb cable using Import from Camera in FCP X. You just have to put the camera into preview/playback mode. Mine popped up the Import from Camera window in FCP X instantly when I did, and all the clip were showing ... ready to import.

Sorry but it does not work that way for me!
?????
The 60p and 50p are problems for FCP X. My clips are in 30P. Best wishes.
I can record in 25p, but still can´t import them. 😟
Really, 60p is a problem? I thought FCP X can handle this!
Then... can it convert 60p to 30p...?

Watching single MTS clips (copied via Finder) is no problem, it works fine with Movist.
You keep saying it doesn't work, but can you actually tell us what you're doing and what happens when you do it.
60p is a problem to import from the camera. If the material is rewrapped to QuickTime or converted it can be imported and used in FCP at 60p.
Sure I can Tom
first i plug the USB cable from my sony nex 5n camera into the mac.
then i open final cut pro x
I click on the the "import from camera button"
then a box comes up an i click on "open archive"
I then find the Camera card, and finds the video on the card called .mts, but i can´t click on them and import the files
?
After you click camera archive, select the card at the top level, and click open. Do not drill down into the folder structure.
I had to connect the camera before starting up final cut pro x. it works now!
thanks for all your answers:)
EXACTLY what hardware are you using , CPU , memory , Mhz , .etc. I,m trying to fix a fault ( that you dont have.. .
Do you know if direct support for 50p/60p will be added? Or is there a way to maintain the information on date of recording when rewrapping to a mov file?
