iDVD on Lion OS X

I am a brand new mac user. I recently purchased a macbook pro with Lion OS X. I am trying to burn a movie to disk and cannot locate iDVD on my computer. Does it not come with Lion? I have iMovie, iphoto, etc. I tried to locate it in apps for downloading and there is nothing available. I have been told that I should not need to get iLife as everything else is on my system and "they" believe that the iDVD should be on my system. Any ideas as to where I can find it on my computer or whether or not I am supposed to download it separately? Thanks.

Instead of "telling me something" and trying to offend perhaps you should learn a bit more patience and accuracy in reading.

Can you read this?:

What does it say in left upper corner? I see number "11".

What you might a=understood that is makes difference is that Apple is not advertising/marketing iDVD, but it stil comes with iLife '11.

Get the iLife '11 installer and run step by step. At the step when you see "Advanced" button click on it and see for yourself.

Not true. You suggested that iLife comes with Macs - it is wrong. Read Apple marketing offer carefully. Where do you see that Mac comes with iLife? <snip>

Well, if you re-read my post you'll see exactly what I said to clarify...

When I say that my late 2010 Macbook Air came with "iLife '11" I mean that iPhoto '11, iMovie '11 and GarageBand '11 were preinstalled. I can't recall if Apple advertisied it as "iLife '11" at the time...

So I'm not sure what is "not true".

I'm guessing that English isn't your first language Maciek so I suspect that there may have been some misunderstandings about what you're trying to say as well as what I and others have said. Feel free to carry on about this however I've said what I wanted to say and anything else is just a digression...so I'm moving on.

Cheers!

No English is only my 4th langiage, but you should learn logic behind your own language - apparently you have problem with it and try to make it problem of someone else.

If you do not remember then do not claim something.

You pointed to your exact post and I referred as not true:

"Since iDVD is no longer offered by Apple as part of the "iLife package" that comes with new Macs running Lion OS X (10.7.x)"

Logically in your own language this statement is not true which you confirmed by saying that you were not sure.

You made wrong assumption that you have iLife package is part of new Mac - incorrect. It is not called iLife. It is subset of iLife.

Any problems with understanding that or you will still push this on someones language being second or third?

That link is out of date. I can find links to Snow Leopard's first release as well. My link is up to date. THIS is iLife as it has been since Lion came preinstalled since July.

Sorry, but that's it. Nothing else.Once had 5 Apps, now has 3. Simple to understand. For most. So you believe what ever makes you happy and I will deal with the reality of iLife.

Because iDVD is not part of iLife anymore.

One for each of your languages. Now as richsadams said, stop being a Troll or you will be quickly removed from these forums. You question (??) has been answered many times in this thread. Contact Apple again and they will tell you the same thing.

Goodbye and good luck. You will need it

Just for clarity: The App Store has only purchase options one-by-one and it does not show iDVD (I wonder what's puprose of calling that iLife in this case - probably for marketing continuity form previous bundles). Sure the new method allows Apple to phase out whatever they want and call iLife whatever they want. However boxed version like this (some call it "old"):

http://www.megamacs.com/index.php?action=frameview&id=4617068

has iDVD and even iWeb.

Up to you to pick purchase method, but don't make claims that is not part of it if you chose to buy only via App Store until it is the only method to buy.

The iLife 11 retail version still includes iDVD. Up until about a week ago, the retail iLife 11 was still available at the Apple store online and Apple actually sent free copies to some people if they called; however, checking it now, Apple has removed it - clicking on my previously saved links comes up with a "this page no longer exists". That leads me to believe that they ran out of supply; however, other sites are still selling it:

http://www.google.com/products/catalog?client=safari&rls=en&q=ilife+11&oe=UTF-8& um=1&ie=UTF-8&tbm=shop&cid=3220550971344177346&sa=X&ei=sGM8T-Ver4yKAsuQncEB&ved= 0CJ4BEPMCMA0#ps-sellers

I purchased a copy because I use iDVD extensively and have not found another app which has the same capabilities at a "consumer" price, so I'd suggest to anyone who wants it to buy it before everyone runs out of it.

Exactly, which is why I gave a link posts back at the type of places the old full iLife 11 suite can be purchased.

Indeed! And based on a couple of the reviews it looks like that version of iLife '11 includes iDVD. iLife '09 also has iDVD and costs a tad less (or about half that on ebay), but if I didn't have the other apps (iPhoto '11, iMovie '11, etc.) I'd certainly pay the additional $$ and get iLife '11.

Cheers for that babowa and Pete!
