install mac os tiger on powerbook g4

Hi all

I have just received a 'old' powerbook g4 without harddrive. After I have installed a ned harddrive , it was ready for test. But what ever key I press (with the install dvd in the drive), the only screen to come up, was a blue one with to small faces in the middle. If I then pressed option key, a screen with a lock (locked) and password field appeared on the screen.

What is wrong?

And how can I install Mac os (is my cd broke).

My powerbook g4:

1.33MHz

1 Gb ra

80 GB HD

You can try this one - PowerBook G4 (1GHz/867MHz) systems - however, it may not work. Your PB G4 probably had a later version which is only available on the Install/Restore disc that came with the PB.

As he said the Apple Hardware Test is obtained from the original install DVD for the Mac.

But as many others, we need it for download! My Powerbook cd's is gone, and my Snow Leopard don't support Powerbooks

No, the usual charge is a nominal fee to cover shipping and handling.

Apple has been going out of stock on the Powerbook OS X disks, since the Powerbook is no longer officially supported. OP can try calling Apple support, but shouldn't be surprised if they are no longer available.

As I recall, a replacement set of OS X disks ran around $60.
