Is there a way to "soft-hyphen" words in Pages?

Yes, there might be no garantie, but I'm using this method since a long time with Pages and it works today!

WOrd with it' own text engine might block these feature - I was looking for a short cod on the keyboard.

It does not work for me with Pages 4. If I insert that character into a text, it appears even in the middle of a line. That is not correct behavior, it should only appear at the end of a line. Is that really the behavior you are seeing?

Hmm, I'm on current versions, so can't check, but: works as explained

as my reference I try TextEdit and got the same effect but hyphen isn't drawn!

Seems the underlaying engine is ok, but there are drawing issues

Thanks! It's good news that Apple added this feature in the new Pages released last October.

(Unfortunately they deleted so many others that many users still have to rely on the older one).

Workaround in Pages 5.5.3 : Insert soft hyphen as suggested by Michael59 —> it won't appear in your text BUT : check "Remove paragraph hyphenations" => now it works and it won't appear in the middle of a line ! 😎
