keywords for iTunes

I answered my own question. There is no way to add keywords from within iWeb. You have to manually edit the rss file. The problem with this is that every time you update your site, you have to go back to the rss file and manually edit it again. This is a pain. I hope Apple will fix this in future versions of iWeb.

It would also be nice if it would let you change the category for the podcast without having to go in and manually change th rss file.

(It sure would have been nice if someone from Apple had answered this.)

That is what I'm doing. I copy the file back to my machine, then I use BBEdit to make the changes.

I just hope that a future version of iWeb will fix this so that I don't have to manually make that change every time.

I downloaded RSS Buddy. Since I already have BBEdit, I don't see where RSS Buddy will be that much help to me. When you manually add a new podcast in feedbuddy, it will let you add keywords, but when you edit the RSS that iWeb has created, it doesn't let you add keywords.

If I was manually doing the web site, RSS Buddy would be great.

iWeb overwrites the rss, so you have to edit the rss file after posting it with iWeb. Since that is what happens, using BBEdit to put the keywords in after iWeb posts it seems to work best. I've setup a custom find and replace pattern in BBEdit that works well.

If you are using a .mac account, it will be on your iDisk.
/Volumes/YOUR_ACCOUNT NAME/Web/RSS/iWeb/YOUR_SITENAME/Podcast/rss.xml

Just copy the rss.xml file to your computer. Then edit it, (make a copy so that you can restore the original if you need to). After you make the changes, just copy it back to the original location.

I used BBEdit to make my changes. You have to make the changes everytime that you upload a new podcast. Because iWeb will overwrite the one that is there.

I've been putting them under each item, and under the category. When I only put them under the category, it wasn't working.

The great thing about using BBEdit is that you can save your search and replace criteria. Then it is pretty simple to put them all in.
