keywords for iTunes

I've created my podcast with Garageband, and posted it with iWeb. I can't see anyway to put keywords in my podcast for searching on iTunes. Is there a way to do it?

Just subscribed to your podcast! I love science fiction!
I am at The Natural Medicine Show

This is my assessment at this point: The description, itunes:subtitle and itunes:summary fields are all populated by by the first box in iweb (hereafter referred to as box # 1). These provide the keywords as I had my phone number in box # 1 and it came up on a keyword search. The items have all of these items also, but my phone number was never under one of the items. These are populated by the item description under the podcast/blog. Now the question is, from which (populated) field is itunes pulling the keywords from? Is it the description, subtitle or the summary field? I have put a random strong at the beginning of box #1 and at the end of each field. So it seems like we can just fill out box #1 and include our keywords and we should be all set. Unless itunes:subtitle is the keyword resiviour (sp?) then it seems like we are limited to about 150 characters. I will let you know when my rss is updated in itunes what shows up. Let me know if you see any errors or flaws in my logic. fondly - steve

<descriptions>
this is populated but is not an itunes specific field.

<itunes:subtitle>
The contents of this tag are shown in the Description column in iTunes. The subtitle displays best if it is only a few words long.
<itunes:summary>
The contents of this tag are shown in a separate window that appears when the “circled i" in the Description column is clicked. It also appears on the iTunes page for your podcast. This field can be up to 4000 characters. If <itunes:summary> is not included, the contents of the <description> tag are used.
MY FEED AS AN EXAMPLE - random string at beninning and end.

It is amazing that there are people like your wife that can work with those children. It is amazing what they do!

Yes, I noticed the the (E) feed, which is the iweb generated one, was not updating for my "experiments". I can think of no reason for this other then I changed the page name, which may have generated a new feed. I resubmitted it today and itunes took it, which tells me it probably has a new feed. We shall see! steve

so it looks like changes were made. I have NO idea why.

Are you moving your site from one server to another?

Below is an excerpt from the Apple iTunes - Podcasts - Technical Specification. I hope that helps you.

http://www.apple.com/itunes/podcasts/techspecs.html

Changing Your Feed URL
Podcasters occasionally need to move their feed from one location to another. In this case, you should not remove your feed. If possible, you should set your web server to return a 301 error and redirect when receiving a request for the old feed. Doing so will cause both the iTunes Music Store and the iTunes clients that have subscribed to your podcast to pick up the new feed URL. Be sure to maintain the redirect for at least two weeks to ensure that most subscribers have attempted to download your most recent episode and have thereby received the new URL.

If you don’t know how to return an HTTP 301, you can use the <itunes:new-feed-url> tag described in the iTunes RSS Tags section below. The tag will cause the iTunes music store to be updated with the new feed URL, but it will not inform iTunes clients of the new location. You may choose to include an audio note in your podcast, informing your subscribers that your podcast has changed locations. After adding the tag, be sure to keep your feed running at the old URL for at least 48 hours.
