Will the iPhone 4 support the new Siri integration?

I am aware of the minor new features in the new iPhone 4S, but am wondering if Siri will be in the iPhone 4 when ios 5 comes out next Wednesday.

iPhone 4, iOS 4.2.7, 16GB CDMA Black

Siri WILL NOT be available for the iPhone 4. It is an exclusive feature of the iPhone 4S. No amount of moaning or complaining will change this.

Where have you read that "it is an exclusive feature of the 4S"?

I just notice that it says Siri beta is only available on the 4S, if apple had no intentions of Siri being on other devices would they not have just said "Siri is on available on the 4S"

Update iTunes to 10.5 then download/install the iPhone v5 update.

Then press the "Home" button and SIRI should pop up in the iPhone 4!

Unfortunately, mine's in GERMAN! There's NO way of changing the language or tweaking SIRI! 😠

No matter what I said, the language won't change and it kept on making phone calls!

Won't be using this feature until it's fixed!

I had an interesting chat with an AT&T executive about the subject of Siri feature and the iPhone 4. He said that it was fully compatible as he was using the beta iOS 5 for the past six months with Siri on his iPhone 4. He commented that he didn't notice a different between the 4 and the 4S in terms of Siri's performance. Strangely, Apple turn off that feature of Siri on his phone on 10/13.

This is proof of it working and this is defiantly an iphone 4 as you can tell by the antenna design on the body

here is also a link to an artical about it.

I am so bummed out! Siri doesn't work on my Mac Classic from 1984! And Windows 7 doesn't work on my original IBM PC! And I can't even get apps for my Apple Newton!

Really, people, manufacturers have no obligation to support older models, even if in theory they could. If your iPhone 4 met your needs before the 4S came out it still meets your needs.

That's the point. Apple is using Siri as the main feature to justify buying an iPhone 4S. The processor A4 is enough to run Siri, and probably iPhone 3GS too.

Considering Apple has 200 million users of iOS it would be too stupid to not release Siri for all those customers.

So, Siri, will be available only for iPhone 4S customers during a period of time. After that it will be release in the AppStore for a few dolars like Facetime.

In this way everybody will be happy. New customers will be happy with the new 8Megapixel camera and older customers will be happy with Siri too.

Take in care, Siri, by the way, is available for English, French and German language. So what happens for spanish users of iPhone 4S?

It is also an important market. It means Siri still needs to evolve.

Siri was a need to launch iPhone 4S, but Siri launch still has no finished.

Remember, in the keynote where Lion was shown for the first time, they said it would be available for download from AppStore only. Today you can buy Lion included in a pen drive from the Apple Store.

So the message changes after a period of time.

Cheers.

Siri actuallly is installed on the iPhone 4 with the iOS 5 upgrade.

However, it is limited to a few basic voice commands. It seems to be able to dial spoken address book contacts and phone numbers, initiate FaceTime calls, play music, play "songs by," pause music, switch a song to the next track, and perhaps a few other select commands. This is basically the same limited set of commands that were available in the original stand-alone Siri App that ran under iOS 4.x.

The major difference with the iPhone 4 is that before iOS 5, you had to download and install the Siri App. Then, you had to select and launch the App and then press the Home button to speak commands. Now, Siri is baked into iOS, and you only have to hold down the Home button for a few seconds to get it to work.

As a result of this change, I deleted the old stand-alone Siri App from my iPhone 4
