iPhone 4S Ship Date???

Has anyone had any success with changing the UPS delivery option on the package to "same day will call" to be picked up at the operating facility? As I won't be home during business hours on the 14th I'm trying to change it so I can pick it up on the same day. My only option appears to be pick up at the facility as early as Monday the 17th.

Apple gives you a pre-sign form that stipulates leaving the package in and around your residence.

I don't feel comfortable leaving the package outside my apartment in Boston, as I'm sure you can understand.

I don't remember all the options, but one is to leave it with a neighbor. I think one could also simply sign their form and then print out your own instructions about where to leave a package.

The white 64GB 4s I ordered Friday morning landed in Louisville, KY at 9:28 a.m. this morning (October 11). Can't wait! This 4s will replace my current iPhone which is the original iPhone that I got on the day that the first iPhones went on sale.

My white 16GB 4S also landed in Lousiville, Kentucky the exact same time (9:28am)! Our iPhones must be in the same shipment. Where is yours being shipped to? Mine is to Toronto, Canada

If there is no update by tomorrow am I will call Apple just to make sure it didn't fall through the cracks.

I'm in Columbia, SC - and if my status would just change to shipped I could stop freaking out - I'm getting nervous. I orded mine last Friday, it's supposed to be here this Friday... but they are still preparing it for shippment, and none of the tricks worked.

I ordered the 64 GB black iphone 4s on October 7th at 6:40 a.m. I've been checking the status of my order and as of today, 4:26 p.m., October 11th, my order still says "preparing to ship" "delivers on October 14th" . I finally called customer support at apple.com (where I placed my order) because I figured that if it has not shipped then the chances of it arriving by October 14th are very slim. The representative told me that apple.com was misleading because no iphones would be shipped UNTIL October 14th and they wouldn't be delivered until a week or two later but since I ordered mine early on the first preorder day I would probably get mine in the first week. I looked up my order on UPS following some of the responses on this site (using my order number less the two last numbers and my zip code) and discovered that my order has already left the plant in China and is now in Hong Kong awaiting departure. I don't know why there is so much discrepancy. I know when I preordered my ipad it arrived at my door at 8 a.m. on the first day of sales so I wanted to avoid a long line.

Ordered a 64GB black and a 32GB black. The 64GB is in the warehouse in Kentucky and the 32GB has left China but not yet in Alaska. Both UPS. Hoping for an early delivery. The only reason not t have the 64GB on Thursday is because Apple is having UPS hold.

I agree - I really don't understand the secrecy and the lack of public information around Apple shipping stuff and holding shipments. Next time, I'll just wait like I did the 3 and the 4. I don't want to be part of this!

Part of the fun I have been having is tring to figure out where they are using flight tracker. While my wife's white phone 16 is cooling its heels in Louisville (just 3 hours up I65 for me) I believe my black 32 is on UPS63 about to land in Anchorage.

And am really putting off doing the things I should be tracking it.

Funny. For me the mystery is all part of the fun. Love the secrecy and all that goes along with it. And at the end of the day, it's just a phone :)

Yea, but it's still crazy how nearly everyone else is getting tracking numbers, even when they've ordered later than you. And if these phones have to ship from China, they need to get moving ASAP.
