Quicktime 7 pro export h.264 better than iMovie quicktime setting?

Hi, wondering if anybody knows if Quicktime 7 pro will export h.264 files (mp4) with better quality than going thru iMovie 11 and using the Quicktime plugin? The results are ok with iMovie but wondering if Quicktime 7 Pro would export better as a standalone unit? Looking to make super small files from chopped up dvd's that will play on all mobile devices..Been using baseline profile setting in iMovie Quicktime plugin so it plays on iPhone 3g as well.. Thanks everyone!

Android only supports Baseline and my iphone 3g will only play my mp4 if they are baseline as well...so guess gonna stick with what i have, and play around with VBV stuff..thanks again.

Ahh, I see why you specifically mentioned the Level 3.0 Baseline profile. Then the only thing I can add is that if you wished to extend compatibility to include the original iPhone, you whould have to limit the content to Baseline @ Level 1.3—i.e., maximum of 11,880 macroblocks per second (396 per frame), maximum video data rate of 768 Kbps, and encode matrix of 352x288 @ 30 fps. (Am wondering what a PAR encoded 448x336 display using a 288x336 encode matrix would look like using the reduced profile/level combination.)

Oh, one other thing. Am posting another TEST FILE. This one uses your encoding settings from above screen captures but I corrected the PAR settings so the file plays at the same dimensions using either QT Player X.1 or QT Player 7. This file also demonstrates why I would normally recommend use of a higher data rate to handle content that is more difficult to render.
