Did the Facebook App Update Kill My Phone?

My iPhone 4 is frozen after updating the Facebook app with today's update. I turned it off, and now it will not restart. Apple logo shows for upwards of 15 minutes. Does anyone have any ideas? I am on the road for work, and do not have the computer with me that I sync my phone to. This is potentially a debilitating injury, as I basically live on my phone when I am on the road (and at home as well).

Same exact problem here. Glad I'm not the only one. I updated the Facebook app about a half hour ago. The app updated but when I opened it was just stuck on the blue Facebook screen. I deleted the FB app off my phone and tried installing the app from scratch. It got stuck on installing, so I restarted the phone. My phone won't turn on now. Really freaking out.

I had this same issue two nights ago ... once the facebook app would not load I restarted my Iphone 4 but it kept getting stuck on the Apple Logo and would not let me back into the phone. After reading several pages the only fix I saw was to restore my phone but I did not want to loose everything as I had not yet backed up photos etc.

So I read on some website only restore as a last resort. And I took the advice.

I plugged in my phone into the wall (NOT into the PC or Itunes) powered on the phone got the apple logo (I was able to power it off) and let the apple logo sit for about 25 min then ... it came back on and I was able to logon and backup and save my items and I restored the OLD facebook app and have not since updated facebook and all is working fine.

My situation was similar, but it didn't completely brick up. Updated FB last night, blue FB screen would come on for a few seconds, then disappear and not load. After trying a few times, deleted FB and downloaded from scratch. New FB now works, but I then updated all my other apps. Now I've got 24 full blue bars "Loading" but they're not installed and not working. So the only apps I can use is the updated FB and apps that weren't updated. Now I'm afraid of restarting it cuz I don't want to brick it! Gonna try syncing when I get home; hopefully that will resolve it.

But the up date doesn't work if you can't get your phone on and the phone is not even recognized on the computer.

I updated the fb app before I went to bed, and tried it...brick...so the next morning I tried everything and I wasn't able to get the phone past the apple logo...couldn't recover anything; phone is completely dead now, thank you facebook..

Genius Bar couldn't fix it, AT&T couldn't help. Only solution was to buy new phone.

... but it didn't.

My "Genius", Meg, even asked for a second opinion from another Genius. They plugged it into 2 different devices.."no recognition"...did all the simultanious button pushing, etc.

Because I keep reading that others' have "recovered", (and, because I love a challenge), I keep trying..."just in case". Still nothing but the Apple logo.

Luckily, I back up often and didn't lose anything I couldn't live without. Just a few notes and a handful of unimportant photos.

Maybe it was just my phone's time to go...(timing is everything)...after 4 days of "no phone", I had an excuse to buy the new one on Friday.

(just after the fb update, all I got was the spinning dial, like it was trying to connect...when it didn't, I removed the app, but the phone never would get past the apple.)
