Mee too, guys.
Original iPad 1st day adopter/lover, I was shocked when I discovered there wouldn't be multitouch gestures for my iPad 1.
Got no money to get iPad 2.
Feel really puzzled and annoyed.

This is probably one of the most dumbfounded moments I've had with Apple, I mean c'mon, what could possibly be their reasoning with removing a feature........APPLE GIVE IT BACK!!!
I concur. 😁
Hey Apple does listen to feedback! Check out what I found on TheVerge.com regarding the latest iOS beta that was just seeded:
Apple has just posted a developer beta for iOS 5.0.1, with the following changelog:
iOS 5.0.1 beta contains improvements and other bug fixes including:
- Fixes bugs affecting battery life
- Adds Multitasking Gestures for original iPad
- Resolves bugs with Documents in the Cloud
- Improves voice recognition for Australian users using dictation
- Contains security improvements
A little outrage goes a long way, folks.
Seriously, thanks for listening Apple.
Yep just installed 5.0.1.
Good stuff.🙂
Yep. I saw that as well. I'm really glad the company listened and provided. It brings such a good usability to all iPads and in a way promotes their desktop OS a bit more due to the similar fashion IOS uses similar gestures for accessing Launchpad and moving between Full-screen apps. It also saves much wear and tear on the physical button on the iPad, which I think is the most vulnerable part of it. All the double clicking pressure on it could definitely take its toll. Now the entire interface can be utilized on the screen itself. Being able to switch it on or off is also a nice option for the very few apps already with 4 or 5 finger gestures (a few art programs mostly) (though I think some of them converted their gestures to something different, by now).
Anyway, another good on Apple for getting gestures on iPad 1. Now they can change their advertisement for iOS5 back to just saying Multi-tasking Gestures on Ipad to reflect all iPads can do it now. 🙂
