iOS 5 Multitouch gestures available for iPad 1?

so dissapointed this feature is missing from the iPad 1.

Just tried using XCode to switch it back for developers mode and no dice.

Everyone head over to the iPad feedback and make sure you ask for them to they unlock this feature for iPad 1. Really inexcusable. It's def NOT the hardware.

Just noticed that the updated photo app in 1st gen iPad does not include any of the new photo editing features.

Anything else we are missing?

I have wasted hours trying to get this going on my iPad 1 -- thanks also to Apple's overloaded servers today. First tried an update to 5 , found no app gestures. Then tried a restore. No go. So, here I am with you guys, feeling like the only gesture we're getting is a slap across the face.

ARE YOU KIDDING ME!!!... No multitouch jestures??? What happen to really having the best user experience! Why would the ever get rid of such and awesome feature! GOSh APPLE you better bring it back on the next iOS update!!!

I am so disappointed with the ommitted gesturing capability on the iPad 1after allof the hype that I am inclined to now upgrade to an android tablet.

It's really incredible. Can there be a reason why the new gestures don't work on an iPad 1?

Very frustrating. I used to use the 4-fingers-up gesture to access the multitasking bar all the time. I can't see any justification for removing it from iOS5 for iPad 1 users - it worked perfectly well in 4.3, so it can't be due to the lower processing power of the older model.

Please put it back.

same problem here 😠 ............. maybe they want more money... and want us to buy ipad 2............... no way. better wait for windows 8 on tablet.......

Are we all talking about the swipe action from the top of the phone? Is that the gesture? Please help, it doesnt work in the ipad 1

No. That's the gesture to pull down the notifications pane. That works for me. We're talking about the four (or five) finger swipe to the left or right to swap between running apps. This is now an additional way along with the exisitng double-click of the Home button where you select the icon of the app you want. If you're typing an email, and you want to switch over to Safari to reference something, the swipe gesture is way WAY faster and more fluid. Home button clicking is clunky.
