The server may be overloaded, wait a bit and try later.
The Gestures are not working for iPad 1 yet. However the new Gestures were indeed advertised for both iPad models. However, they just changed it to say iPad 2 now. That's kind of brutal.
I agree. I've sent feed back before the website "update" and after.

Grumpy, grumpy, grumpy.
They lied it said, "Multi-touch gestures for iPad". And yesterday they changed it to, "Multi-touch gestures for iPad 2"
Let's complain, send bug reports and call them.
The more complaints / bug reports we send the better.

And the ReadMe for the release of iOS 5 does not mention iPad 2 only for gestures.
I am so ****** off.
James, Apple does not respond here. This is a user to user tech support forum. I am a user of Apple products. I also understand that when folks start making claims of false advertising and such that it is usually covered by the Terms of Use for the website. That is a quote from the ToU at www.apple.com. Apple has covered its tush.
I have seen these situations over the years, I have used Apple products since OCT 1984, where Apple makes a decision and folks get up in arms, some making rash claims and statements. However, Apple rarely reverses course on its decisions.
Dahveed: Oh boy!
I would've thought a phsychologist would be a little more conscious of the emotion of the customers here and the damage you're doing to do to the Apple brand.
I really hope you are not an Apple-paid spin doctor!
It's obviously due to technicl limitations of the iPad1, similar to the reason why Flash is also not supported.
The only aspect that bothers me is the fact I have been using the gestures on the iPad1 and they worked just fine.
Makes me wonder if my iPad really could run Flash as well, but I am being blocked from using it for the same reason they are now blocking my gestures... money.
I think that you are starting to make personal attacks that are clearly out of line for this forum.
I am a little brown Mexican guy who uses Apple products. I have used them a long time. I like their products. I do not always agree with the decisions that they make about their products, but I have rarely seen Apple back down over the years.

how is asking you three questions a personal attack? ill ask again, do you have an ipad one?
secondly, blindly giving up without giving apple some stick will allow them to contiue this policy, how about we keep moaning untill they change it, there are no hardware limitations, ipad once can easily perform this task!
in fact safari is now slower for me now on ios5 then it was on 4.3 so apple propaganda isnt correct. only by all of us not giving in will they listen

I haven't updated yet - and am using an app called 'Goodreader' for pdf files, etc.
it has some features that are opened/closed by using three fingers ONLY.
is that "multitouch"?
if so, will I NOT be able to use those features on the iPad One with iOS 5?
that seems dumb
Do I have this multitouch concept confuesd somehow?
Like when they adjusted the Mute button switch to Lock Rotation?
You're not the only one who has used Apple products since '84. If you're not an iPad 1 user dissatisfied with the lack of multitouch gestures, find another forum to troll.

Yes, folks are upset about something entirely different. What they are on about was not part of the public releases of the iOS, but was available through a hack or activated with Xcode for developers. Many expected it to be in the public release of iOS 5, and it is, but only for the iPad 2.
