how is asking you three questions a personal attack? ill ask again, do you have an ipad one?
James, if you check the header in my response I was not responding to your comment, I was responding to someone else.
I have an iPad 2.
Dah-veed's comment was directed at me Jimbob-darulo ;)
Dah-veed: I assure you my attacks are purely business and directed at your act of posting the words of Apple's lawyers in that disclaimer.
You also have (whether you are a volunteer "peer" or not) a professional impact in this emotional turmoil given that you have put your hand up as the one who succeeded to have Apple change their web site to remove the statement that iPad would receive the gestures.
So, it's not personal, it's just business.
Good job Dah-veed -- earn your Apple money.
However, your comments are personal when you appear to attack me for my profession. I work in my own private consulting firm in human resources and organizational development. I practice industrial psychology, not clinical psychology. I assist family-owned Mexican companies come in out of the cold and corruption and start paying and treating their employees legally and respectfully, as well as, pay their government taxes which allows them to be part of Mexico's national healthcare system.
None of that has anything to do with my participation in the Apple Support Communities, except that I am here because it is safer for me here, than being on the streets of my own country.
End of discussion.

Many of us just so happen to be able to use developer tools like XCode and KNOW the iPad 1 used multitouch gestures brilliantly. We tested it the entire summer. There's absolutely no reason to not have this feature in iOS 5. NONE. Apple should be ashamed that they left out a perfectly working feature for the millions of people who put iPad 1 on the map. An iPad 2 user has no frame of reference in this discussion.
We understand Apple isn't going sign in here and discuss it with us. The purpose of the user to user forum is for us to discuss the problem, inform others how to submit their feedback to Apple and report any new developments in the future.
On that note, please submit your comments, complaints and feedback to the iPad team here:

Thankyou for helping out in this form.
Apple's absense speaks very loudly.
In their absense, some of the comments posted in relation to:
- the customer being at fault for the error of getting used to the gestures that are developer preview or hacked
- expecting the gestures to remain
- then to have the gestures removed from our devices
- having absoulutely no feedback from Apple as to the reason
--> are totally supportive and helpfully accurate to clarify Apple's postion.
I understand that you are a helpful voice of balance for other users who stumble across this forum and don't understand what the fuss is about -- how do you expect customers who are in this prediciment, in this thread to react to your defensive stance?
Shal we just say, "Oh well... I was only using those features to test my apps. Now off to the Apple Store to buy my iPad 2 so I can use those features for real. Gee, I have no idea why I put up with my imperfect Original iPad! How un-Apple of me to use a device for more than 1 year!"

One of the many problems with the software that runs the ASC. Once the number of comments reaches a certain threshold, the thread is no longer presented with threaded comments. Trust me, upper level users have complained to the Highest Heavens of Apple where the ASC Lord of Hosts resides about this crappy forum software! Also to no avail.
This is a very cheap move on behalf of Apple and anyone that bought the iPad 1. Hardware limitations are understandable... software crippling a gizmo you paid $600 for, is a not acceptable!!
Please, submit your feedback here for them to at least know what you are thinking!

If Apple is to take this line of approach towards my very hardly earned money, I'm going with brands like Samsung in the future or I'll Jailbreak and forget about buying Apps from them.
Best regards,
Rafa.

That message appears when the hosts move posts out of the thread prior to deleting them for Terms of Use violations. On rare occasions, I've seen the branched thread listed for a minute or so before it becomes invisible.
I also have an iPad 1 and I.m very sis appointed. I just send a messa to them on their feedback page. I doubt they will give an answer.
This is really a shame. I guess it's just Apple wanting us to spend more money with their products.
Raphael
I've already submitted my feedback.
I do believe they read these forums.
Very dissapointed.
Purposely devaluing a product I only bought a year ago for big bucks, will make it less likely for me to upgrade to iPad2 or 3.

How has Apple devalued your iPad? Is it not as capable as it was the day that you bought it? In fact is it not more capable than when you bought it? Does it not have more value in that it has a more sophisticated OS than it came with, an OS with much more capabilities?
Devalue is a strong word. Perhaps "beginning to selectively exclude it from fundamental UI innovations for which the alternatives are inconsistent with the touch interfaces we're accustomed to on the Mac and iPad 2". Driving a wedge between iPad 1 and 2 far sooner than expected.
Stop being the over protective parent/older sibling and let them answer for themselves. 😉
Daveed
Yes devalue. A bit strong maybe.
It drives a bigger wedge between the two products, making it more likely for someone to buy a new one than my extinct/outdated one year old product.
Agreed, it still works. 😉
