Ok, after deleting all Apple programs and reinstalling ITunes 10.5...no store.
winsock reset and restart...no store
reinstall safari...no store
winsock reset again...store shows up.
This error seemingly has no rhyme or reason.
This worked for me, two reinstalls, and a disabled bonjour, this was simple and repeatable. I can back up my phone again. Thank you
Running "netsh winsock reset" and restarting worked for me. I would like to see a real fix or explanation from Apple.
Let's just be grateful they didn't bring down the whole TCP/IP stack.
I did the "netsh winsock reset" and it did not work for me. After reading others tried it again and had success, I gave it another shot and also did an 'ipconfig /renew' at the command prompt and it fixed the iTunes Store issue and I was able to back up again.

Awesome! That did it for me, too!
Finally I can install iOS5.
🙂
Just to give my 2 cents:
This has happened with the past 2 iTunes updates. Before, uninstalling and reinstalling all Apple components worked. This time, it did not. Neither did the "netsh winsock reset" option. Checked and enabled all Norton settings. No success.
Finally, I completely uninstalled CloudCare (formerly BSecure) filter. Fixed.
Not exactly happy, but at least I could finally complete my iOS 5 update and access the iTunes store.
The same issue was happening with me over the last two releases. A full uninstall and reinstall worked for 10.4, but nothing worked for 10.5 and I tried everything that anyone suggested.
Based on auntbeal1975 I uninstalled CloudCare and my problem is fixed. Simply turning off CloudCare didn't work.
Thanks and good luck to everyone still suffering through this issue.
I'm so very sorry to bother you, but I was wondering if you might take a stab at this issue?
Thanks so much in advance!
I upgraded to iTunes 10.5 yesterday on my laptop running Windows XP 32bit.
Download and install went ok, but when I try to open iTunes it just won't load.
There is no error message or pop-up - the hourglass icon appears briefly, and iTunes.exe comes up in the Windows Task Manager for about three seconds and then disappears.
Tried uninstalling and reinstalling, as well as repairing in Control Panel>Add or remove Programs, but still have the same issue.
I should mention that Quicktime opens just fine.
Please help and thanks so very much in advance!
I worked for hours and then relized my Killer Network Card was the problem.
See here for the fix.... http://www.bigfootnetworks.com/Killer-Forums/showthread.php?4650-iTunes-10.5-Big foot-Network-Manager-broken-iTunes-(workaround-included)&highlight+iTunes+10.5
You might try uninstalling and reinstalling iTunes and all Apple components, but you must do it in a specific order and then verify everything is removed. Then, restart your computer and try re-install. I've had to do this twice with previous iTunes updates, and it wasn't that big of a headache. It fixed my problem. (Althought, it did not fix my problem THIS time with iTunes 10.5. This time, I had to also unintall CloudCare, my BSecure internet filter, before iTunes would open....another thing to think about if reinstall doesn't work)
Here's a link for the proper order to uninstall for Windows XP:
I had the same problem, XP, and the winsock reset worked. Now if only I can get my iPhone 4 to complete a back up. had this same issue with 10.4, did a complete reinstall, and it worked. Did the same thing with 10.5, and not working. I'll have to wait to do my ios5 update.
Ok, so I think I may have this problem but I'm not sure. Since the 10.5 update my itunes store will load 50% (or there abouts) on the load bar but show a blank page. Then after 30 seconds or so it gives up and gives me a blank screen. Now I've also noticed that AppleMobileDeviceHelper.exe is now guzzling my system resources (50%cpu continuous).
I've tried the winsock reset and that was unhelpful, I've updated all my apple software and nothing. Any suggestions on either of these issues or if they are the same problem I can't figure it out. Thanks.
This work for me too! But in Windows 7 you can not get to the "run as administrator" from accessories. You have to type in "command prompt" from the start menu and then right click from the start menu. then you have the menu to run as administrator. Thanks, this rescued me after 12 hours of trying all of the fixes emailed to me by apple.
Thanks! This worked great it reducing the AppleMobileDeviceServices.exe from a constant 50% CPU.
