installed itunes 10.5, no longer can connect to itunes store now?
The link works for me and the article doesn't address specific error messages. It tlks about isolating the issue and ruling out security software.
If you're seeing a blank iTunes Store, you could try resetting Winsock. It worked for some in this thread (iTunes 10.4) -> With iTunes 10.4 I can access iTunes store.
MTG68 wrote - In windows 7, click on your start menu, go to accessories, right click on the command prompt icon and choose "run as administrator". Once it opens, type in the following command...
netsh winsock reset
hit enter and it should say something like winsock reset successful now reboot your computer.
I'm on Windows XP
The same command will work in Windows XP as long as you have Service Pack 2 or later. See:
http://windowsxp.mvps.org/winsock.htm
Whether it will help I can't say, but it's perhaps worth a try.
Regards.
Bingo...that did it! Thank
I wasn't expecting it to help, tried it anyway, didn't work. It was the same as the 10.4 update..... But, I was able to fix those issues by uninstalling and reinstalling.
Okay...I fixed it!
Uninstalled Safari, Quicktime and iTunes - Then reinstalled and updated to the latest Safari.
Thanks for the help!
The Winsock reset worked for me, and that is after uninstalling all Apple software and re-installing twice.
Glad that worked for you. Please mark whatheheck's post re. Winsock above as "correct", would you? It was his/her suggestion, so s/he deserves the points, and will help steer anyone with the same issue to this possible solution.
Regards.
resetting winsock worked for me as well - thank you
winsock reset also did it for me !
thx buddy!
all the deinstall/reinstall or old quicktime didn't help ...
Uninstalled all apple programs (done)
Did the winsock reset (done)
Reinstalled only ITunes 10.5 (done)
Deleted and then added back permissions for Norton firewall (done)
Still blank store screen.
Going through all this "stuff" worked in making 10.4 work. Not so 10.5
I am having a similar issue - instead of it being blank, whenever i chose the itunes store, the application crashes. no specific info, just an error has occured and the program is closing. this has been happening since the beta 10.5 installs, however, so I have no idea what it is.
i have tried the uninstall/reinstall and most recently tried the winsock fix to no avail. hope someone figures something out.
Are you using the newest version of Safari? If not, uninstall Safari and reinstall the newest version. That fixed it for me (after I did everything you have done)
After 5 months of absolute frustration the winsock reset solved my Safari/iTunes Store issue!!!!!!!!
Thank you so much.
I was able to update my iPhone the first time in 5 months!!!!!!!
I just tried "netsh winsock reset" and it worked on my laptop. I'm running Windows XP.
