iTunes 10.5 hangs during iPhone 4 sync

Worked for me too! I can't belive it. I was ready to pull all of my hair out this has been so frustrating!

Didn't do **** for me. SOOOOO FRUSTRATED. Ready to chuck my iPOS and get an android.

Having same issue. Using Windows Vista on HP Pavillion laptop. Sometimes Windows won't recognize iPhone 4 or iPad 1. Other times sync will start and iTunes locks up. Also, since upgrading to iTunes 10.5, cannot get into my 2TB Time Capsule. Have literally tried a dozen solutions (including the one listed here) with no change. Please advise.

This plus the addition of removing the free edition of spyware, then resetting my computer worked. After trying, with no success, yesterday, and it getting hung up for 3 hours, after doing these two things it took 5 minutes for back-up!

Having the same issue on Lenovo X200 running Windows 7 64-bit Professional. I've tried what seem to be the 2 main solutions, the one listed here and a complete reinstall of iTunes 10.5. Have even reinstalled 10.4.1, but to no avail.

What do you mean by "removed free edition of spyware, and reset computer"?

If you're using icloud, try turning all of your iDevices off when starting iTunes (i had 3 devices all trying to connect). This is the only thing that worked for me after doing the netsh winsock reset as recommeded above multiple times.

I wrote to the manufacurer of the network card built-in to my motherboard and received the following reply:

"Apple's latest update broke it - we're working on a fix now. I don't have an ETA yet,but it should be relatively soon."

I'm pretty sure that the type of card I have is not used by many people as it's a gaming motherboard from Gigabyte however the problem mat be occuring with other boards.

The solution is probably to add an additional network card until and if Apple does something about it.

Somehow this suggested solution did not work for me. My iTunes still hangs on synch either while copying files over in the last step or on waiting for copying files.? I am also using Windows 7 64, with new iPhone 4S 64GB and iTunes 10.5. Even tried to restore my phone to manufacturing settings, but no dice... What else can it be besides a BIG BUG in iTunes?

I found what seems to work for me so far. At least my songs are synched now. Working on the Photos and Videos next.

I have the same problem but I am using visita. It wont sync, it freezes itunes and still see the iphone connected when its already plugged out. I am a first time iphone user, I dont wanna have to send it back. Help!!!

REMember to reboot after you run "netsh winsock reset" as administrator.
