iTunes 10.5 does not load shared library files

Since today's update to iTunes 10.5 from 10.4.1. iTunes can no longer access the shared music library I have on my iomega NAS disk. It sees the disk and lists it as a shared library, but when I click on the library it goes into an endless loading cycle. In the past it might take a minute or so to load the library, but since the update, iTunes never actually does load it.

There is no error message, not even an operation time-out. I can't see anything rrelevant in the console. It just goes on for ever trying to load the shared library.

It was loading the shsred library just fine until this evening when the update downloaded.

Any ideas?

I spoke to a not-especially helpful person at Iomega yesterday who initially pretended not to know about the issue, but then said that though the patch was not yet ready, it was in the pipeline and should appear before much longer. That's a paraphrase of an even vaguer statement, but conveys the gist of what he said, I think. So, we wait a little more...

Blarg.

Hitting the same problem here (and I'm not sure if it's affecting the two Win7 PCs seeing each *other* either.)

DLink NAS-321 - two bay NAS, worked fine before (and it's working just fine on one PC that's "spare" and isn't updated to the latest version of iTunes.) And the NAS is an old enough model I don't expect a firmware update.

*sigh*

Fortunately the NAS is (for the main system) mostly serving as a mirror/backup of my stuff on the main PC, so it's only an irritation on other systems.

Second week of January and Iomega still haven't tackled this. The best I could get out of them was that the next firmware update (the arrival of which is a matter of vague conjecture at this stage) "MAY" (and I quote) address the issue. After a strongly worded e-mail that mentioned trading standards and the inadvisability of advertising a unit as compatible with itunes when it patently isn't, they have offered to "upgrade" me to a Storcenter iX2-200. Does anyone have any experience of these? Amazon reviews are much worse for this unit than for the Home Media one it's replacing. Not sure this is any kind of upgrade at all. Anyone else with an Iomega device, might be time to get heavy with them.

I've got the same Zyxel NSA221. 10.5 broke it... 10.5.1 fixed it... but after seeing people having problems again with 10.5.2, I haven't updated.

I was going to play with one of my computers just to see if I have a problem, but haven't done that.

Make sure you have the most recent firmware too. It's fairly old - before any of these issues. I wanna say the last update was 4/2011?

I'm experiencing the same problem with my WD MyBookLive on a Win7 64-bit laptop and I figured it would be a quick fix. The NAS shows in iTunes, but no media appears. I am SHOCKED at how long this thread has persisted with no resolution. WOW! I agree with a previous poster who said Apple's not likely motivated to fix the issue when their $24 Match service is the "solution." The iTunes server is one of the primary reasons I bought the MyBook NAS in the first place.😠 I've emailed WD tech support to see what they say. If I get a helpful response, I'll certainly post it here.

I went to the QNAP web site and updated the firmware for the 219-P and it fixed the problem. Here is a link to the latest firmware, updated on 11/25/11:
