iTunes 10.5 does not load shared library files

Since today's update to iTunes 10.5 from 10.4.1. iTunes can no longer access the shared music library I have on my iomega NAS disk. It sees the disk and lists it as a shared library, but when I click on the library it goes into an endless loading cycle. In the past it might take a minute or so to load the library, but since the update, iTunes never actually does load it.

There is no error message, not even an operation time-out. I can't see anything rrelevant in the console. It just goes on for ever trying to load the shared library.

It was loading the shsred library just fine until this evening when the update downloaded.

Any ideas?

Mac Pro, Mac OS X (10.6.8), iTunes 10.5

Same for me, Apple has already done the same mistake last year, hope they will provide a patch soon.

have now fixed mine using Avahi & Airplay qpkgs (for Qnap only), maybe other devs have gotsomething you guys can use

Confirm the problem is cross-platform. I got the same with Win64 on a Netgear ReadyNAS Duo. Before installing itunes 10.5 all went perfectly.

Can confirm that for a Buffalo Linkstation (LS-XH2.0TL) with Twonky 4.

Works fine with iTunes 10.4 on my Macbook Pro (which is not updated yet) and goes into endless loop with 10.5 on the iMac.

VLC, PS3, Pure Contour all work fine with the same server.

Iomega Storcenter ix-200 + iTunes 10.5 - same problem. We have to wait for the iTunes patch, I think.

The good news is that it is across the board on all NAS server platforms and that might speed up the patch availability sooner than later. And that is my hope🙂

Same problem here too:- iTunes shows an infinite loading screen when accessing a NAS under "Shared" devices, since upgrading to iTunes 10.5.

iTunes: version 10.5

NAS: Buffalo linkstation duo (with the most recent firmware)

OS: Mac OS X Lion (I know this is an iTunes for Mac thread, for what its worth I can also replicate it on my Windows7 and Windows Vista machines)

Have iTunes 10.5 now on Snow Leopard that has stopped loading WHS library whereas a second machine (Leopard with iTunes 10.4) continues to work happily. Await patch for iTunes 10.5!

How does it help with the issue in the thread? Should we uninstall Itunes and re-install every time there is an update? I would do that if it helps solve the issues.

Hi All,

Same problem here. I used iTunes 10.4 on my MacBookPro and HP MediaSmartServer. All went well till I installed iTunes 10.5.

I hope that Apple will update soon.

There will be no iTunes patch from Apple for a non existing WHS (Windows Home Server) Library on your system.

Disable "Home Sharing" in iTunes for Windows.

Same here. Got a Zyxel NAS221 and after a lil thinking, it shows a list of tracks for a second, then crashes out to the local library.
