iTunes 10.5 does not load shared library files

Since today's update to iTunes 10.5 from 10.4.1. iTunes can no longer access the shared music library I have on my iomega NAS disk. It sees the disk and lists it as a shared library, but when I click on the library it goes into an endless loading cycle. In the past it might take a minute or so to load the library, but since the update, iTunes never actually does load it.

There is no error message, not even an operation time-out. I can't see anything rrelevant in the console. It just goes on for ever trying to load the shared library.

It was loading the shsred library just fine until this evening when the update downloaded.

Any ideas?

Western Digital Live TV Hub 1 Tb Drive

iTunes 10.5

I recently bought a WDTV live hub, which I wanted to use as an iTunes server. It wirelessly links to the Home Network with a D-Link nano USB dongle. The devices is visible in iTunes, but clicking on it just gives a 'loading' dialogue box and nothing more happens.

Is this the same issue being experience by everyone else on here, and is there a PC patch or something I can do to get this working?

Thanks

Same problem for the DLink DNS-323. Click on the Shared Library representing the iTunes server on the DNS-323, then iTunes spends a minute loading the library, flashes the list of songs in the library, and then automatically switches back to the local Music library.

Don't upgrade to iTunes 10.5!

You can see a similar discussion on http://forums.dlink.com/ if you search on "iTunes server not loading".

I've submitted the issue to Apple, but not heard back. I think I'll try to downgrade iTunes to 10.4.

I opened up a ticket with D-LINK and here was their response:

----------------------------

You are correct. The DNS-323 support up to iTunes 9. Apple as changed the implementation of the itunes server in 10 so that the DNS-323 would require and update to the current itunes server. I have no update at this time regarding plans to update the DNS-323 iTunes to support further versions of iTunes.

Should you require further assistance with your D-Link products, please reply to this message, or call toll free at 877-453-5465.

Thank you for networking with D-Link.

So at least D-LINK recognizes this as a problem on their end. Whether they are going to fix it or not is another story
