iTunes 10.5 does not load shared library files

Since today's update to iTunes 10.5 from 10.4.1. iTunes can no longer access the shared music library I have on my iomega NAS disk. It sees the disk and lists it as a shared library, but when I click on the library it goes into an endless loading cycle. In the past it might take a minute or so to load the library, but since the update, iTunes never actually does load it.

There is no error message, not even an operation time-out. I can't see anything rrelevant in the console. It just goes on for ever trying to load the shared library.

It was loading the shsred library just fine until this evening when the update downloaded.

Any ideas?

That source is even older than what's sitting in the ancient SVN, unfortunately. From the looks of it, the plugin code this patch touches was in src/daap.c back then, however this older version still had the msup tag enabled. Are you sure this is the version your plugbox is using? If so, what problems are you experiencing which led you to try this solution?

That sounds more like the error from last year's iTunes 10 update breakage when missing the mediakind tag. The behaviour I've seen from the iTunes 10.5 update against the svn-1696 of mt-daapd is that iTunes simply spins indefinitely, never loading anything at all. As far as I know, one of the post-iTunes-10 versions from Apple did fix this issue, but since I've also been using a patched mt-daapd I won't have noticed if Apple introduced a regression.

Hi,

I get roughly the same problem as unixsystem. I click on my shared library (iTunes Server) and while it hangs for a second or 2 saying "Loading", it then jumps back to the "main/local" library.

Also while this thread maybe very useful to people who know about unix/ubuntu/etc... as there seems to be plenty of useful suggestions and people who seems to know what they are talking about, I'ts not much use to the many people that don't have a clue about these and writing script is obviously not an option, so I'm still hoping that Apple will somehow provide a fix in their next release.

Enough people seems to have reported the issue, so I hope it will be given the appropriate priority. Touch wood!!

I have a Synology DS207+ NAS. This functionality worked fine for me until I upgraded to iTunes 10.5.0.142. Now it doesn't work on Windows 7 64 bit but still works when using Windows XP and OSX Tiger. Synology's solution is to upgrade to their latest version of their Disk Station Manager software but I don't think that my device is upgradeable to that version. I'm hoping that Apple will fix this problem with the next releasea of iTunes.

I have the same problem - running Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit/ iTunes version 10.5.0.142 and device is Buffalo LinkStation LS-XHL (2.0TB), updated to the latest firmware.

Buffalo do not seem to have released an update in response to the problem...

Does anyone know of an update coming up? Is there any other solution for Windows?

Thanks in advance.
