I've read on number of forums and Windows SuperSite, first thing to do with a pre-install of Windows, even now, is redo a clean install, even if you need to buy a copy (System Builder is fine, or retail) and that way get rid of pre-installed 'stuff' and programs, demo, out of date that tends to be found. And do it yourself.

There are fewer issues with 7 but Apple services is one of 'em! and when Windows asks "what default action to take" when it detects iPod (and others), select "none" and that seems to avoid an error.

Vista suffered from CD driver "GEAR" package that didn't play well or at all with iTunes. And iTunes would scramble its media data if it resided on a RAID volume (big thanks! how did that slip through anyway?)

I really wanted to wait for the ".1" release, you know there always is one or something down the road, and iOS and iTunes are no exceptions. New version, new features and bug/security fixes always spell trouble and need for patch to follow up.

I spent quite a while on the phone with a senior Apple tech support person (after going through two other tech support staff first) who tried everything and finally conceded that the only thing to do was go back to Microsoft and make sure *all* updates have been installed. One has not installed correctly numerous times, and he suspects that is the culprit, since it is related to C++. He was reluctant to make me go back to Microsoft, but that's probably the only reasonable step at this point. I do not want to reinstall the whole Win7 OS, ugh and double ugh.

Obviously, Apple is not interested in this problem to the extent of informing tech support that they are working on a solution, or providing them with a specific solution. It may be a multiprong problem, since any of the numerous Microsoft updates could cause problems if they don't install properly, apparently. In any case, tech support has been helpful and involved, but can't solve the problem, which is now in Week 3 since it was reported.

But as for my getting a 4S and another iPad or iPod...not in my lifetime! This experience with the conflict between MS and Apple has soured me thoroughly, even with support from Apple tech staff. I'm stuck with MS, can't change that. Apple gadgets have been optional -- and I'm not going through this again, particularly regarding something as vital as a cell phone.

This is the message. It starts near the end of "copying files'. most times it rolls back and tries again after you hot OK. then a message comes up, 'instalation interupted". sometimes even with the original error message it lets u download "successfully' only to then give an error message that support is missing for each element of itunes. I'm done for now!

thanks!

Hi everyone

I have tried everything listed in this forum. I was getting the same errors as everyone else. I tried uninstalling everything Apple and then reinstalling then all I kept getting was Ituneshelper was not installed properly reinstall itunes. I tried editting the registry by removing all apple registry keys but still got the error. I tried revo uninstaller and unlocker software that someone else suggested and it still didnt work. The only thing that worked for me was a format and reinstalling windows.

I have tried every suggestion that has been made. I have 2 years worth of work in my computer and I am not going to go through re installing windows. When I got my new Apple phone I was told it was a simple matter to upgrade to 10.5. But I cannot do it I get teh error.

I tunes 10.5 will not install, and Apple have done nothing about it. I am very upset and I am taking my Apple 4 back to the store and getting my money back I have one month to do it and I am going to take it back and get my old blackberry back on line.

Apple obviosly dont care or they would have come out with something or said they are coming out with a patch of some kind to overcome this problem that a lot of people have.

I tried all that I went through regedit deleted all of the apple keys and went through %programdata% as well and deleted everything Apple. I tried repairing the installer as well. I tried everything on the forum! Nothing worked but a format which I should've done first because it would have saved me a week of my spare time. Format and reinstall only took 7 hours. I would hate to see the amount of hours I spent trying to get 10.5 working. Maybe i should sent Apple an invoice for time spent trying to install 10.5!
