Error 8288 when upgrading my first gen Ipod Touch to IOS 3.1.

I have also had the same problem. It has occured on the same date, October 12, 2011. It will not let me complete the download. Please help us both.

iv also came to this problem too when i tried to update my ipod touch 1st generation to update 3.1.1, iv emailed apple and i will recieve a email back from them in 24hrs or latter.hopefully they came up with something that can fix this.....ill update back when they come up with a solution.

Same problem here...I'm getting quite frustrated. I've noticed that the marklorenz mentioned that there isn't any dvd burning softwares...does that mean if we do have them the error will keep coming up?

well i just recieved the email from apple....and like i suspected, it was a lame answer.

he or it(computer) gave me a link to purchase the update(even though that wasent the problem i written down)

i already downloaded the update, the problem was that it wouldnt finish/begin downloading.

i swear man apples customer service BLOWS!!!!! I mean to have to pay 40-50 dollers for a simple answer to a question is horrible. If anyone comes up with a solution PLEASE!!! let us now.

My account has been charged but I can't get the update to download 😟

I've waited and waited, it still won't let me download the upgrade. Is there anyway to get the money back because that's like a waste of $5 having that Error 8288 just sitting there...

msoviolist, I opened a ticket via their so called "Express Lane" support page, I assume it'll take a couple of emails before they decide to credit you for the download. I would suggest linking to these two threads in the correspondence, this is what I included in the message;

I'm having the same problem, does anyone have a solution yet? Apple support have bn useless (the guy I sopke to didn't even know there was a 3.1.1 updgrade) and the online help I usd counldn't fix it . . . . . I'm ugrading from 1.1.5, all software/itunes is uptodate so I am totally lost!
