Cannot restore/update iPhone. Internal error iOS5

I'm trying to update from iOS 4.3.5 to iOS5 but when I try to update I recieve an error during the restore process. I think it is an error with verifying the update. User uploaded file

It's a refurbished iPhone. Anyone else having the same issue?

FYI,

Iphone 4 - iOS 4.3.3 (I would like to update to iOS 5)

Currently in DFU Mode, connected to my Lenovo (Windows OS) laptop.

Now the itunes asked for:

- Remind me later

- Download and update

- Download only.

I try to download and update, after i back up my iphone; when i click update, It's warning from ITUNES

"The iphone software update server could not be contacted. An unknown error occured (-23)"

Anyone can help me regarding this problem?

Not sure what the deal is with this. I think iOS5 just has some issues. I was unable to get the backup to restore after installing iOS5, even with antivirus disabled, plus the other tests mentioned in my previous post. Since iOS5 installed but didn't restore my data, I had to manually resync my apps, photos and music, then go in and change my personal settings - took about 3 hours. I'm good to go now.

Thanks for the response

Like **** it will be that easy, then i dont need to post at here anymore.

I tried to set all instructed by the technical support from apple web, but their method is like:

- Try to use the original cable (i did)

- Try to do connection test (i did)

- Try to check antivirus or firewall (i did it too)

But none of those method useful.

Anyone can let me know what is ERRROR -23?

In addition, i tried to reinstall my itunes (uninstall and install it again), now i can't even open the itunes; dont know what should i do.

Hi all, this instantly worked for me after searching around (for OSX)

Cheers,

The hosts file may also be blocking the iTunes Store.

  1. Open the Terminal utility located in Applications > Utilities.
  2. When Terminal opens, open the hosts file by typing entering the following command and pressing Enter:
    sudo nano /private/etc/hosts
  3. Type your user password when prompted.
Note: This requires a non-blank admin password.
  4. Edit the hosts file:
The hosts file contains some comments (lines starting with the # symbol), as well as some default hostname mappings (e.g. 127.0.0.1 – localhost).
You can navigate the file using the arrow keys.
  5. If an entry is found containing apple.com, add # and a space to the beginning of that line.
Note: If this is a work system, the hosts file may be used to redirect to local resources, such as software updates. Consult your support resources.

  6. Save the hosts file.
    • When done editing the hosts file, press Control-o to save the file.
    • Press Enter on the filename prompt, and Control-x to exit the editor.

i did what mzkr58 suggested. Worked without a hitch I have a 3gs and once the phone rebooted i was able to go on my merry way restoring the phone. I am a bit annoyed that despite just syncing all the apps (supposidly) many of the apps did not synch and the order they were in and folders they were in seems to have been somehow lost in translation or something. So over the next few days i get to lay out my apps all over again and try figuring out which ones i actually want back out of whats missing.

Same problem i encountered during restoration. I have an iphone3gs..but during the restoration..it alerted me with differrent messages as " The iPhone"iPhone" could not be restored. An unknown error occurred (1)". I try to followed all the troubleshooting suggestion by Apple..but still could restore my iPhone 3gs. Perhaps someone have the same experience..please help if you know how to resolve my problem in restoring my iPhone 3gs. thanks in advance..
