"could not activate iphone" after iOs 5 update..Help?

My phone has done the same.... just have the Apple logo on it and nothing else. Useless

My iPhone 3GS has the same problem and I don't have any SIM card for it... it's my wife's old iPhone and I just use it as an iPod touch. Well, now I use it as a paperweight.

Just wanted to pipe in here and say I have the exact same problem, with the same symptoms and conditions:

• iPhone 3GS that has been unlocked by original carrier and has been working without problems for 7-8 months with a new SIM card from another carrier
• Upgraded to iOS 5 (from 4.2.1)
• iOS 5 installs, but fails activations.
  • On the iPhone it says: "Could not activate iPhone..." e.t.c., giving the reason to be that the activation server is unavailable
  • When connecting to iTunes, iTunes says "There is no SIM card installed in the iPhone.." e.t.c.
• Carrier signal starts as "Searching..." but ends up with "No service" after some time
• I have tried hard resets, but without effect.

I really, REALLY hope Apple has a fix for this 😟

Same issue for me except that I don't have any problem with my Sim Card.

I think im going to die without my phone. this is a horrible feeling. 😢

hi fellows i have the same problem that all of you and the only conclusion that i have found is to downgrade and using Sn0wbreeze and make a custom to activate the phone and that the only way that you could use it like an ipod an you won't be able to call or send a message it just be an ipod i find this pretty bad for those of you that use your iphone for business and call all the world because the only way tha you can call is with any program that allow you to do that under a wfi network i hope that someone i don't care if a hacker or apple fix this but i hope to someone fix it soon

This is what I have for you this morning. When you get to: Activating your Iphone, click on Home button, --> emergency call, dial 911, You will get call Failed. Now, click on Call Back and Home at the same time.

See if you get anything..(try a couple of times)

Ah so close but yet so far! I manage to get the occasional quarter of a second glimpse of the springboard, but it immediately returns to the "call back" screen. Are you saying you actually have gotten it to stay at home screen?

Iv just read sumwhere that yu may need a micro sim :S something the iphone 4s also requires

Rose I cannot call the store, my phone is DEAD , and I do not have another phone to call on. I have to go to the Dr, I get treatment 3 times a week. This is very bad!

hi i do that you told me and it works after a few tries but if it gets locked you have to do it again and it still have not network but that's an advance
