hi macca17,

could you please write down the step-by-step guide on what exactly you did to get thru to the phone?

Appreciate it a lot.

Here's what ive been doing for the past hour, but no joy still:

1. Once i've chosen the wifi network, i hit Next.

2. Activating your phone shows "it may take up to 3 minutes to activate your iPhone" (bullsh*t)

3. I press home button, choose "Emergency call", dial 911, then it says call failed.

4. I press the call back button and home button simultaneously, i get a glimpse of the springboard only to get brought back to the call failed screen. I press call back and home button again, 1000 tries and still no joy. i get the glimpse of the spring board around every 3 tries or so.

😟

I didnt press the home button, just kept on hitting 'call back' and eventually it brought me through to the home screen. I am on it now and just been into the app store and it doesnt let you download any apps.

Add to that it still says 'no service' so it is pointless and not worth doing. Seems the only option will be to wait until apple send out a fix in a release.

I am having this issue. I upgraded a brand new iphone 4, unlocked, never been jailbroken or anything like that, and after i downloaded ios 5 and upgraded the phone to it, i'm getting "SIM not valid. Only compatible SIM cards from a supportted Carrier may be used to activate iphone. Please insert the SIM card that came with your iPhone or visit a supported Carrier's store to receive a replacement SIM card".

i connect the phone to itunes and it shows nothing in itunes. I can't do anything with the phone

No idea what to do....

Any help is welcome!

Been up since 9 am with this same problem. I have a 3gs and before I updated to ios 5 my phone was working PERFECTLEY FINE. I had went to AT&T and put my SIM in one of the Reps Andriod and it worked perfectly. Put the SIM back in my IPHONE and it said "no serivice" and "could not activate iphone" Apple needs to do something about this problem because it is none of our faults as customers to have to suffer with these problems that has to do with Apple. If anyone has a resolution or hears about a resultion that can fix these problems, PLEASE let us know. This is not cool.
