Thanks, Rob.
I checked through the "Not sure if you have an Apple ID? Find out" option and found that I have 2 accounts. Both had the same e-mail contact registered and this caused the mess.
Unfortunately it's impossible to merge two or more Apple IDs.
I'm having the same issue. Has anyone fixed this? I really don't want to change my apple id. I have had this one for a very long time.
Same issue here too.
this stinks, guess I should quit clicking the "resend email" button for a little while
So I went to appleid.apple.com and realized that my Apple ID email said it was not verified however when I try to verify it the pages just sits there and, probably, attempts to email me a verification for this. Check yours and see if this is the same as well.
appleid.apple.com
then go to manage account
It will be in there.
appleid portion of apple's website is down for maintenance. Apple #inoveryourheads
I've been having the problem. Tried to have the verification email sent from 2 different computers starting this afternoon but still no email arrived.
I'm having the same problem...have tried it repeatedly but nothing ever is received.
No verification email either.
In fact, the whole process of "upgrading" to iOS 5 has been a pain. My mac went to sleep during the process when doing my iPhone and that seem to have screwed it.
My iPad is proving to be a nighmare - it refuses to backup so wont start the process (even after deleting old backups) so I did a factory reset and started from there. It turns out that the upgrage did load before I did the reset even though iTunes told me it failed. Not knowing this I retored the iPad to factory settings and tried to set it up as a new device. It's now running iOS5 but in a funny state. iTunes is trying to restor the old set-up whist the iPad is trying to set-up as a new device. Between the 2 states, things look very grim....
I'm not sure it's been worth it anyway as I'm finding all sorts of problems with the software on my iPhone. If anyone is reading this before they have attempted an upgrage, I'd say wait until 5.0.1 comes out with some fixes in it. It all looks and feels very beta to me
Same here.
I managed to fix this by changing my e-mail associated to the Apple ID account: https://appleid.apple.com/
same thing here....resending doesn't help.....must be overloaded?
I set up my wife's iCloud account on her 3GS and Windows 7 machine with no problems. Everything worked perfectly the first time.
I've tried setting up iCloud on my 3GS and my MBP all day with two different email addresses and the validation emails never come.
The emails I've used for IDs already exist in Apple's system: one is our iTunes ID and the other is my Developer Center / ITC ID. My wife's email was never used for anything Apple related.
I suspect there's a bug in some business logic on Apple's side that is deciding that neither of my accounts require a validation email and is erroneously throttling it. That or they're just slammed. Or both! :)
Brand new stuff and Apple will fix it soon I'm sure. Loving iOS5 so far.
Hope this helps!

yes, i have ....i clicked around 5 times, and have not received a single email, in my inbox OR my spam!
Any ideas why?
I think I have sorted out the problem!!!🙂
It turns out that I have 4 Apple IDs that I have collected over the years. 2 for iTunes accounts (one US and one UK) 1 for Mobile Me and 1 for use on this discussion forum.
At least 2 of these accounts had the same contact email and this happens to be the one I'm trying to verify with iCloud for iOS5. This seems to confuse Apple and rather than telling me that the email address is associated with 2 Apple IDs, it just fails to send the verification mail.
My advice would to use the "I've forgotten my User ID" to recover what IDs you have and verify your mail from in there. If your address is associated with more than 1 ID, you get told here. Sort out your addresses so that you only have 1 per Apple ID and go from there...
