nice one rob..
I had two other accounts with the email I wanted to use as alternative email...
icloud, here i dump!!
Me to, same exact problem, 2 accounts same e-mail, solved like a charm!
Thks!
I am having the same problem, it won't send me a verification email. My problem is a little complex though, because after i updated all software and then installed the IOS5 on iphone, i went back to my desktop to merge the mobilme with icloud, it stepped me through the process and at the end i would fail to merge it. This lasted a few hrs yesterday until finally it worked. Then i would go into my iphone device and into settings/icloud and it would crash the settings app. this problem persisted until today when i went back to my desktop and deleted the mobilme icloud account to start over.
i must add that my apple id is and has always been a yahoo.com address,,however i am unsure how this works with my different emails of mobileme and the me.com, this is very confusing to me because i had merged my mobileme email to icloud yesterday but when i am in iphone/settings/icloud, it only has the option to send verification to the yahoo.com address. Of course it wouldn't allow me to do anything from iphone because it would crash the settings app anyway.
so today i went back to the drawing board and deleted the icloud progress i did yesterday on my desktop with the mobileme/me.com merging, and started over by logging in with my yahoo.com apple ID, which brough me to the desktop page to click on the button to send a verification email to my Yahoo Apple ID. So far its been a few hrs and no email verification has come.
Where is this option that you can click a "I've forgotten my user ID"? If that has worked for others, i'd like to try it. Can anyone tell me where that option is?
where do you go to find the i've forgotten my user id?
appleid.apple.com/
ok so i figured out through appleid.apple.com that there is no doubt that my yahoo.com email is my only appleid email, yet still i have not recieved a verification email . So could this problem be not on my end, but on apple's end?
Yeah thats my problem too. I know for a fact my email works as I have got emails from apple on other stuff. For some reason I have not got a verification email!!!!!
This is so frustrating.
Email verification doesn't work and, AKAICT, Apple is silent on this. Nothing on the home page to give people reasons, status, ETA on fixes, etc. Just silence. Very typical.
So let me get this straight...
You need a verified email to access iCloud and iMessage.
You need use an email for your Apple ID
Apple gives you a way to change Apple ID to an email address.
Apple is supposed to send a verification email to your new Apple ID. BUST!!!
I have been figuring this out for a month. No response from Apple.
Thanks Rob. I have the same problem as you but the two accounts are completely different and only my name is the same in both. Your workaround doesn't work for me, I tried and Apple said no...
It's a shame really that Apple are following the shoddy, buggy Lion release with the unworkable iCloud release. Add to that the disappointing iPhone 4S release last week and suddenly they don't seem like such a hot company after all...
Good Rob
Things seem to make sense now. I guess that's why they say to try and use your same address for everything. Idk what everyone else is having problems with but my iOS5, Lion, and (now) iCloud work perfectly. Good luck fellas,
-Justin
Nothing is working for me. I only have 1 appleid account and trying to go to appleid.apple.com to send an email to verify my account from there, and it does not work. And I tried "Resend Verification Email" from the iCloud settings in System Preferences, that does not work either. I tried to send a Verification email in the new "Find Friends" app from Apple on my iPhone 3GS and that didn't work either. I get an email from Apple for resetting my password when I just changed it at appleid.apple.com but that's about it. No email for verifing my account. I tried multiple times yesterday and today. Nothing works.
My late 2009 15" MacBook Pro with Lion installed is up to date with all my software. I updated everything before downloading my iOS 5 update for my 3GS yesterday. I event just check again before posting here; ALL my software is up to date.
Any help would be appreciated thanks.
Hi,
yesterday I tried and tried to verify my first apple ID email address... impossible . Here began crazy hours trying to configure iCloud on my iMac and on my iPhone : Impossible just for this silly problem , I didn't receive any verifying email to confirm my first email address (every thing in email system was ok ! (no spam filters,...etc)
I'm little upset because I cannot use iCloud . I don't understand why the apple servers are not sending me the confirmation email ; everything in my ID was always ok to buy apps,.... why not by now? . Taking a look around my case do not seems to be the only case: all you and more on forums.
Well,...just a few more information about the same : 12h later, now, I can see in my apple ID with my first email verified, and with an option about to convert mi old ID in my first email (this option do not works and do not send any email too) ; iCloud continues with same message : email not verified, etc... and no confirmation email received.
In that moment : no iCloud on my Macs or iPhone.
Please what happens? Will this be resolved in brief? What a rare (bad) experience on my mac!
Any idea about to solve it or what will happens with my iCloud service?
yes,the same thing here....resending doesn't help
Same problem like most everyone else - cannnot get the Verification e-mail. I'm just creating new passwords everytime I try and fix this problem. Very, very fustrating. Is there hope for Apple after Steven Jobs?
