iCloud verification email

I have updated my imac but have not received the verification e-mail for icloud. I have repeatedly clicked on resend email verification. Anyone else have this problem?

This most likely means you have a 2nd AppleID that has this same email address listed as an alternate email address for it.

Manage Your Account at

http://appleid.apple.com

Check to see if any of your other email addresses or AppleIDs and family members email addresses or AppleIDs have your main email account associated with it as an alternate email… because if they do, it won't send the verification email since it's already verified to another account.

You may need to change your email account to a 3rd or 4th one to disassociate it with this one first; then on the Apple ID website there's a section that says: Not Sure if you have an Apple ID? Find Out >

This will help you find the name on the other account and if you cannot get in to that account you should be able to receive a password reset to it.

If you cannot find the account you can try emailing iTunes and/or call Apple and check if they can find the account that is still associated with the email address you are trying to use for this.

iTunes Support - Email Option:

http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/contact.html

iPhone technical support: (U.S.)

1-800-MY-IPHONE (1-800-694-7466)

iPod, Mac and iPad technical support: (U.S.)

1-800-APL-CARE (1-800-275-2273)

(if you call they MAY be able to grant an exception to the phone support of your device due to it being an account problem or iCloud problem)

Alternatively you can always set up a new email account with gmail, yahoo, aol, etc.. and change your account to that one so you still have your account media it'll just be under a different email address than you're used to.

Short Version: Log into appleid.apple.com with your appleid before you had to add your domain name to it (appleid@yahoo.com). Click the button that asks to make your email the same as your appleid.

Long Version:

I just spent 30 minutes on the phone with apple support dealing with this problem. I didn't have any old emails linked to my account. The issue for me was when the icloud update came out all apple id's had to be turned into full email addresses. This created the roadblock b/c I had 2 accounts with the same address. My original appleid, and the new appleid@yahoo.com that I had to add on. I fixed it by logging in to appleid.apple.com using my old appleid. Once in the manage my account section I could click a button that asked if I wanted to make my email address the same as my appleid. When I clicked the button I was already verified and was able to log right into icloud, itunes, and moblieme. I hope this helps.

Same here - Apple, major fail. IOS5 update forced me to change my many-years-old AppleID, only one I have, to be an email address. Now, Apple itunes store (Mac) & App Store (iPhone) won't let me verify my email address and clicking resend does nothing. No error, no new email.

Worse that that I cannot update apps on my iPhone anymore because it is askign me to login to my OLD non-email ID and gives me a "wrong password" fail every time. Yes, I signed out in Settings->Store and signed in again with new email based ID but Update is still a fail.

Apple, ***? You are hardware geniuses but incompetent in software and services. Wow.

What a mess. After reading many of the posts here, I eventually tried the suggestion of changing my email address; the one I've always used as my Apple ID. This address worked fine with iTunes etc, but it did not receive the verification required for iCloud when I upgraded to Lion. So I logged in and changed the address and had that one forwarded to the original. Now works. I just have to use a new address now for everything; iTunes etc. Obviously an error, but it doesn't seem like Apple are acknowledging it.

I also have an Apple developer ID, but that shouldn't have been the point of confusion, as it couldn't let me use that for an iCloud loging (I tried it when everything else failed).

So make sure you have only one visible Apple ID account, then create another email address and maybe forward it to the original. Pretty clunky stuff. Expected better. I only upgraded to Lion to get iCloud.
