For all that are missing the "Sync with this iDevice over Wi-Fi" option, can you confirm your versions of Mac OS X. I've seen a few sites that list the Beta software required 10.6.8 to allow Wi-Fi syncing. I also don't have it and am on 10.5.8 (PowerPC Mac so latest I can get).

If this is the issue, it seems Apple have forgotten to tell us about it.

If that's the case, then Apple is seriously dropping the ball all over the place this week on system requirements:

- Neglecting to mention that Multitasking Gestures requires an iPad2

- Neglecting to mention that Airplay streaming of Keynote for iOS presentations requires iPad2/iPhone4S

- Neglecting to mention an OSX requirement for WiFi syncing

Confirmed.

OSX 10.6.6

"Sync with this iDevice over Wi-Fi" is not available.

Upgraded to 10.6.8

"Sync with this iDevice over Wi-Fi" is available and syncing worked without any other tweaks.

It would be nice if Apple would properly document feature requirements.

I have had all the problems in these posts, tried everything possible and still could not get my iphone 3gs to wifi sync or locate in Itunes.

This morning I have had succsess! My issue was with the firewall, although had followed apple suggestions on the firewall settings ect...

I'm using a PC Windows 7 ultimate. The problem is with AVG, i have disabled the firewall, and it still did not work until i tried changing the firewall to 'Allow all' this seemed to do the trick and my iphone appeard in itunes and syncs just fine now. I resarched on the internet re: AVG and AVG's firewalls seem to give a lot of people problems with a lot of applications, not just itunes ect., even though all settings seem correct for applications to talk to each other. Disabling it still doesnt work but 'Allow all' setting works!? Why this is i do not know, all i know is it that it worked for me. Now 'Allow all' is effectivly disabling but i have now enabled windows firewall which should do the job security wise and does not seem to be conflicting with anything.

For any AVG users, try this as i have tried every avenue and this is the only one that worked.

Hope this helps :-)

I am having the same issue. I am running Windows Vista and cannot get wifi sync to work on either my iPad 2 or iPhone 4. I have set everything up as recommended by Apple and once I unplug either device from my computer, it is not visible under devices in iTunes. On my device (iPad or iPhone), it says that the sync will resume once my PC is available. I have updated all software, restarted computer, iTunes, devices and turned off firewall to no avail. Any suggestions?

Thanks in advance!
