Ive been reading these posts and I am wondering why no one has mentioned that after you click the "sync over wi-fi" button on your computer in itunes, you then must hit "apply" in the lower right hand corner. It's that simple folks. Give it a try.

Sorry, but it's NOT always that simple, so please stop being so patronizing. Some people aren't even getting the "Sync over WiFi" option, even though they have iTunes 10.5 and iOS5 installed. Apple neglected to mention that Sync over Wifi has a minimum OSX requirement of 10.6.8, while iTunes-10.5 will run on OSX-10.5.

kmsmolk.

Don't be so patronising,

I have two iphone 4S's one 64G and one 16G plus one ipad2.

There is a 3 month old iMac running the latest software.

The 16G iphone sync's wirelessly with iTunes.

The 64G does not.

Both have been previously synced with iTunes and both have the "Sync with this iphone over wifi" box checked.

When the 64G is connected by wire to the computer it shows up in iTunes, when it is unplugged it dissapears.

The 16G shows up all the time in iTunes.

Does any one have any answers.

Managed to fix my wireless syncing by playing around a bit I found out that my computer name (i.e. Right click on "Computer" and select properties) contained a hypen. I renamed the computer to delete the hypen, restarted and now it syncs wirelessly like a charm!

Obviously something that apple overlooked which will probably right itself in the next release but should get you up and running fingers crossed! 🙂

I guess, I agree with phoomp. Here's my case ... I use iTunes 10.5 on Win7 with iPhone 4 and iPad2 connecting to same PC.

1) While iTunes in running with iPhone 4's Library profile, it can detect iPad2 but not the iPhone 4.

2) While iTunes is running with iPad 2's Library profile, it can detect iPad 2 only.

But some luck I was able to wifi sync my iPhone ONLY ONCE ... hasn't worked since 😟

Same issue here. Windows xp. I found that if I boot up my computer then go into services and locate "apple mobile devise" (applemobiledeviceservice.exe.) I stop then start then open iTunes. iTunes immediately finds my devises and allows for them to sync. If I don't do that iTunes doesn't find my devises. I hope an update comes out soon to resolve.

It has something to do with that service. If I plug in my iPhone, wait for iTunes to discover it, restart the applemobiledevice service and then unplug, it stays connected. Now if I close iTunes it loses it and I have to do it all over again, but at least I know where the problem seems to lie.

Ok, so it looks like it only allows the phone remain in iTunes, it doesn't actually keep a sync connection to the phone. I can see the phone listed in iTunes, but I if I go to the Sync Now option in the settings of the phone it says that it will become available when my computer is available.....and here I thought we had a fix....guess not.
