iOS 5 Wireless iTunes sync..Not really wireless or what?

MY iPhone 4 will do a wireless sync but only if I initiate it (either from the phone itself or from iTunes where the phone is seen), however when I plug it into a wall charger it does not automatically sync. Any suggestions on how to make the auto sync work?

I have 3 network connections. 1 physical and 2 virtual VMware. With iTunes open I disabled both virtual connections. When I disabled the second connection iTunes showed an error dialog that it can't reach my iPhone. Give it a sec and then it picked up my iPhone and started syncing. For whatever reason iTunes 10.5 does not like more than one network connection.

hi. Have you set your itunes on your computer to sync wirelessly? you have to check that on itunes for you to do it from your iphone.

Guys, I had the same problem and found that with my netgear router, I had to disable a setting concerning some kind of SSDD, or SDSD or something that apparently allows devices within the same WIFI to communicate, but there was a setting that was limiting this...maybe this helps someone

I had the same problem as others here. My iphone 4 and iPad 1 would not wirelessly sync with iTunes. I'm running a Windows 7 PC connected via ethernet cable to my wireless router.

I don't know for sure what solved my problem but I powered off and re-stareted my iphone and iPad- No help. I then shut down my computer and router. When everything powered back up, my iPhone and iPad were both visible in iTunes and they are wirelessly syncing ok now.

For those whose problem with Wi-Fi-Syncingis persistent, this solution was the last resort (because it's the longest setof tasks) option and it worked. Additionally, the windows application referredto in the post is safe-ware (so far as I can tell on my machine so far, andI've used it a bit).

I also have an iOS5 with Windows 7, all the symptoms and a device (iPhone 4) restart did the trick... I also restarted iTunes during the device restart just in case 🙂

Uninstalling itunes and then re-installing it worked for me. Windows 7 64 bit. I messed with it for a long time trying all kinds of things with my firewall and router.. in the end it was the uninstall and re-install that got it working perfectly.

I tried it too but could not get it to work. I tried everything imagineable to no avail

Hey guys.

Just an update to my previous post.

Everything is working as expected.

Dunno what happened but when i booted the pc today both iPod and iPad showed up on iTunes in seconds.

I did all that i mentioned earlier. I hope it helps someone.

I had the same issue, and I found out a resolution by accident. I had my iPad plugged into my iPhone charger. When I plugged into the iPad charger (which is higher amperage and slightly higer voltage output than the iPhone charger) it magically showed up in iTunes and now sync's like a charm.

This is just insane. I have an iPad2, iPhone 3GS and my wife a iPhone 4. I got them working, don't ask me how because I did everything on this thread, but the problem is that the next day it wouldn't work.

Basically I spent HOURS on this already and I'm just going back to the old way thgrough USB. I'm EXTREMELY desapointed with IOS5, not to mention how long it took me to update these devices. Very inconsistent.

I would say iOS 5 is the new Windows. Wasn't apple suppose to "make it simple"?
