iOS5 update causes over capacity problem?

I've just applied iOS5 to my iPhone 4 and after applying the update and trying to do a sync, iTunes fails because it says the iPhone is now 14gb over capacity.

My iPhone had 4gb free prior to the update.

The category it lists as over capacity is "Other", but I have no idea what it that "Other" stuff is.

Any advice?

Update: Took the plunge and hit "Restore" in iTunes, then opted for the pre-iOS5-upgrade backup to restore with once the iPhone had been (quite quickly!) cleared and restored. It is now churning through a proper restore of all content, including putting the Apps back where I had them organised to originally, and "Other" is back to the more normal (for my iPhone) 0.7GB.

I think it's fair to say either a re-sync or restore will fix the problem. For me, I had this problem when upgrading my 32GB 3GS. For me, I changed the sync options so that only my apps were syncing and everything else was removed from my phone. Only when all (90%) the space was freed up did my "Other" (18GB) disappear and I was able to sync all my stuff back to my phone. Luckily no iphone restore was needed for me.

Try this:

1) Uncheck "Sync Music" and sync. My Other file dropped from 14gb to .61 gb

2) Recheck "Sync Music" and resync.

It seems that the issue is possibly with all of the artwork that got copied across during the iOS5 upgrade.

I tried multiple things before stumbling across a previous post that recommended unchecking everything but apps. I didn't want to lose ringtone configurations etc, so I just tried music and it seemed to work for me.

I had the over capacity issue also. In my case it turned out that on the first Summary page in iTunes, under the Options category, the checkbox for 'Prefer standard definition videos' was no longer checked, and it was trying to load HD versions of a lot of TV shows. Re-checking that got my usage back down to where it had been before the updates.
