iCloud Control Panel does not recognize Outlook

I installed the iCloud Control Panel but it doesn't seem to be recognizing Outlook. In the Control Panel header, it says "Install Outlook to use Mail, Contacts and Calendars. Outlook 2010 is installed and the iCloud Outlook Add-In is installed and running.

Sorry for my bad English!

I read the writings from PDiddy825.

I also do not have a Click-To-Run version of Outlook. I have the full Home and Business version of Outlook.

As he recommended I went to the Control Panel, searched for the Microsoft Outlook, I clicked on it, above, I clicked on Repair and it took about 10 minutes to run.

Then, finished repairing, I was asked to reinitiate and so I did.

After the reboot, I opened the ICloud Control Panel that stays activated in windows bar and it opened well and the problem was fixed! The Mail, Contacts and Calendar were active again!

The ICloudPanel asked me if I wanted to synchronize (as it was the first time), I asked YES, and it made contact with my ICloud account and synchronize my Calendar (I choose not to synchronize the Contacts, because since the problem began I started saving my new Contacts on ICloud website).

After that, I opened the Outlook and all of my compromises in Calendar were save on Outlook. Then I made a synchronization with my IPhone 4 and it worked very well. Only a few “dates” were duplicated.

Reappeared ICloud Contacts and Calendars on the left bar of my Outlook!

Thanks for all the commentaries that I read, especially for PDiddy825!

Hi DMC_ATL,

I have this same problem. Spent many hours trying to figure it out. Was on the phone with Apple for 3 hours tonight. Did you ever resolve your issue? If so, how? I read each of these threads. I have Win 7 64 bit, full version of MS Office Prof 2010 32 bit, latest iPod touch (i.e. iOS 5), itunes 10.5.2, IE 9, active icloud outlook add-in and itunes outlook add-in in my Outlook, latest windows updates.

Does anyone have any new updates on this?

I run Windows 7, 32bit and full Office 10. My icloud sync from the PC to the iphone and macbook air most of the time. However, it will stop and I must shut down Outlook and restart it and then it syncs. I cannot get it to sync from the iphone back to the PC. It just stays resident on the iphone. Any suggestions. While not perfect I can at least force synchronization. It has stopped deleting the iCloud panel from my PC and forcing me to reinstall. This would appear to mean it was an Apple problem, which they corrected. Someday we can only hope it will all work.

I also have a 64-bit Windows 7 Pro laptop running Outlook 2010 (as a part of Office Professional 2010 32-bit).

On initial setup a few months ago, the iCloud control panel seemed to be working with Outlook just fine, albeit with the typically bothersome issues around duplicate calendars, etc. One day, I noticed I wasn't getting calendar and contact updates on my iPhone, and when I investigated, the iCloud control panel came up with the inexplicable "Install Outlook to use Mail, Contacts and Calendars" notice.

I've spend hours searching for a solution and I figure I've tried just about every potential "fix" I've found here and elsewhere. Nothing worked for me. I left the iCloud control panel uninstalled until I had some time to mess around with it again

This morning, I happened across a recommendation to run "repair" my Office installation. In Windows 7, a "repair" of Office can be invoked via the Windows Control Panel >Programs>Programs and Features by selecting the Microsoft Office program and hitting change (not uninstall) up towards the top of the window. The MS Office installer will launch and a "repair" option should be available to you.

I ran "repair", which took a little while, and allowed my laptop to reboot when it asked. I then (re)installed the iCloud control panel and it (amazingly) proceeded to recognize everything properly and again allow me to configure syncing of mail, contacts and calendar!

I'm still not sure why the original combination of iCloud and Outlook stopped working, but I do have it syncing properly again as of this morning. Hopefully, this same solution will help someone else with this problem. Best of luck!

When my iphone stops synching with Outlook ( Have an iphone 4) I close Outlook and then reopen. It begins synching. It will stop again after some period of time and I just close and restart Outlook. Make sure it is closed in the Task Manager Processes. I can sometimes close it from within Outlook, but it remains open in Task Manager. Not sure about that issue. I hope this helps,

Mike

Thank you so much PDiddy825! I had given up on this problem until I stumbled upon this thread. Yes sure enough, and unbeknown to me, I had 2 versions of MS Office on my machine - both the Home & Office 2010 and 'Click To Run'. I uninstalled and removed both before making a clean reinstall of Home & Office 2010 (do export and import the 'pst' file to avoid losing key info). The first thing I noticed was that the iCloud Control Panel options for Calendar and Contacts were no longer greyed out and just a few ticks in those boxes got me up and running. Furthermore, the options to sync with Outlook Contacts and Calendars in iTunes were also available and this, after many months, also works fine. So the problem does indeed seem to be related to Microsoft Office and not Apple. Thanks again PDiddy825!

I was able to solve this problem by "repairing" the Office 2010 installation.

Go to:

1) Control Panel

a) Programs and Features

i) Select you Office installation (mine happens to be Office 2010 Profession)

ii) Select "Change" from menu bar or by right-clicking on Office listing

iii) A dialog box with the options that includes radio button for "repair". Select that and hit continue.

2) After the repair completes, reboot Windows (in my Win 7).

a) the problem was fixed for me.

Hope this helps

Bob
