why can't I access my music after updating to iOS 5?
iPhone 4, iOS 5
Same problem here. Update went without problem, but I cannot transfer my 900 songs from my computer to the iPhone. I was able to transfer custom ringtones, but music will not sync to the iPhone.
This is a huge hassle for me since I synch my music manually. My music is behaving erratically under ios5, I really need a fix for this.
Its really frustrating that music cannot be sync on our Iphone's and Ipad's....Im having the same problem and I have tried every solutions that were mentioned but none of them worked so far:-( Please help! I need my music:-(
Yes I've tried all kinds of things...and still lots of grayed out songs...this is a pain.....
Same here Music was synced just does not play however one or two songs have tried playing with the wrong album art. Buggy..Trying a full erase and restore of the iphone 4 as I type..
Yeah i am the same i have all my music sitting on my iphone but it isn't playing and the playlist is not syncing to the songs. Dead Kennedy's don't sing Under the Bridge
Ok I restarted my Ipad...then did a wifi syc and my music all came back....I had done this same thing before and it didn't work.....so if it's not working for you....maybe try it a few times...wow....glad it's back....the same problem on my iphone....and this trick worked too....good luck....

Yeah had the same problem here, Restored my iPhone 4 with iTunes and resynced everything All ny musis is working great now
Well, my problem is solved. I don't know if it will work for everyone, but here is what I did:
1. Restored my iPhone again
After I did that, the music that had been there before the upgrade to iOS 5.0 was still there when I clicked the Music tab under the iPhone in iTunes, but it was all grayed out. Also, the Summary view showed essentially no music (I had had > 6 GB before the update.)
2. Unclicked the "Sync with this iPhone with Wi-Fi" box. When I did this, the 6.3 GB of music appeared immediately in the bar graph at the bottom of the summary page.
3. Resynced just the music I wanted (that had been there pre-upgrade.)
All music now back.
Hope this helps!
I couldn't play my music on my iPod touch after downloading iOS5. Someone told me to reboot my iPod and it worked!
I had the same problem with my Iphone 3GS. I rebooted and now it works perfectly.
I just got an Iphone 4 8g today and tried putting songs on it. It took sync'd them fine, i then went to play them and they were "skipping" and starting 8-11 seconds into the song. The songs show that they are the same length but they are starting into the song. I have no idea why this is happening. any thoughts or help?
Instead of syncing library, press sync playlist, but dont select a playlist, just check automaticaly sync free space with songs. It should work, it worked for me (=
Jim, your the man. I had tried everything else before this simple step of actually turning my iPhone 4 off and then on again. All the music is there. So glad as have 9 hour flight from Bangkok to Nairobi and would have missed the tunes!!
I had this problem, but I solved it.
1.) After plugging in iPhone, click on the iPhone tab on the left hand side.
2.) Scroll down to "Options"
3.) Select the option, "Manually manage music and video"
4.) Drag and drop your music onto your iPhone tab on the left hand side.
Done and done. Enjoy that.
HAving the same issue here... 😟
