Same problem here. Update went without problem, but I cannot transfer my 900 songs from my computer to the iPhone. I was able to transfer custom ringtones, but music will not sync to the iPhone.

Had same problem too. Don’t worry, there is an easy solution.

I though that was because i"Manually manage music and videos". All my "Music" is onlyon my iPhone, no one on Library -> Music.

So I simply unchecked "Sync onlyticked songs and videos", and checked it back again and then applied it.

Now, “Music” and “Videos” apps areworking fine.

Good Luck

Not sure why, but if you go into your Sync tools and deselect all your music playlists or songs and then sync, it will clear out the cached memory on your iPad/iPhone. Then go back in and select all that you want synced and then away you go, upload all the songs again, it will "revalidate" them and you are good to go.

Altered from original solution from Emily P:

Okay, mine now works here is what I did.

  • plug in the iPhone, iPad etc
  • in iTunes select the phone or iPad
  • Under Summary uncheck "Sync with this....."
  • Under "Music" uncheck the "Sync Music"
  • Sync
  • Let it remove all the songs, dont worry it will come back no problems.
  • Once that is all done all the music on the phone or ipad should be gone.
  • Now check them both back on, sync, and everything should copy back onto it.
  • Working now !!!!!

I am so disgusted and frustrated right now. After ten bucks in gas to get to the Apple Store "Genius" Bar for support and following all their instructions as well as trying everything in this and similar threads, the music on my iphone4 is STILL not working properly. Most songs will play for a few seconds then move on to a different random song, play for a few seconds, move to another song, repeat repeat repeat until I want to throw it across the room and never buy Apple anything ever again.

The Apple Store deleted everything from my phone after running a diagnostic on it. It was basically just like a brand new phone with service still functioning but everything else wiped off. They then sent me to this page which I was to follow at home, using instructions to set up my phone as a new device:

I did everything exactly as instructed and am experiencing the exact same issues. I then tried AGAIN for probably the fifth time, the instructions to sync/unsync remove, etc. music and my music still won't play properly. The music I've downloaded from Amazon has no issues, it's only iStore purchases. The Apple store guy told me my update had a corruption somewhere in the OS update and it was pointless to remove/replace music because I was just reloading the corruption. Yet his assurance that wiping the phone clean then setting it up as a new device then resyncing my music did not work.

Is there a way to revert to a previous OS? I will NEVER NEVER NEVER do an update again until it has been out for a long time and Apple has remedied the issues. I'm sure anyone reading this probably feels the same way right now!

why can't I access my music after updating to iOS 5?
